You can buy Tom Brady's personal sports memorabilia at this new Wrigley Field shop

Some sports stars transcend the cities that made them famous—Tom Brady, seven-time Super Bowl champion and superstar New England Patriots quarterback, is one such athlete. So even though he's more connected to Boston, he's being heartily welcomed in Chicago thanks to the footballer's new sports memorabilia and trading card company, CardVault by Tom Brady, which just opened across from Wrigley Field. (How's that for foot traffic?) Remember the Chicago Cubs win, you know, the big one—the World Series in 2016 that ended the 108-year curse that cemented the Cubs as the 'lovable losers'? Well, just after that Tom Brady and the 2016 New England Patriots also had a big win—Super Bowl LI, oft called the greatest comeback in NFL history, earning Brady his fifth Super Bowl ring. It's not such a left field (see what we did there?) move, then, to stake a claim in Wrigleyville almost a decade later. Brady, now retired, has thrived in other ventures, from broadcasting to brand partnerships to businesses like CardVault. Located at 1027 W. Addison Street, CardVault is a high-end sports memorabilia and trading card shop located in the perfect place for not only sports fans, but also folks who want to honor the connection of 2016 wins. At the new retailer, you can expect to find single cards, sealed boxes, and packs from top brands like Topps, Panini, and Upper Deck. Brady fans can also check out autographed, authenticated memorabilia including helmets, jerseys and other equipment, as well as special Chicago-themed merchandise. CardVault by Tom Brady will be open Monday to Thursday from 10am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 9pm, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. The Wrigleyville location is the chain's first outside of the East Coast; other outposts include Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA; TD Garden, Boston, MA; Foxwoods Resort Casino, CT; American Dream, East Rutherford, NJ; and East Hampton, NY.

CardVault by Tom Brady opening Chicago store

The quarterback with the most Super Bowl wins in history is putting down roots in Chicago — but only in name. Driving the news: Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady will open CardVault by Tom Brady in Chicago, the only location outside the northeast. The big picture: CardVault bills itself as more than a store — "it's an immersive destination for fans, collectors and investors," according to its website, which sells sports memorabilia and other collectibles. Flashback: CardVault started in 2020 and Brady purchased 50% stake earlier this year, according to a news release. "This isn't just about buying and selling cards; it's about curating history, building community, turning fans into collectors, and giving them access to own great moments in sports," Brady said at the time. Zoom in: The Chicago store will open in Wrigleyville at 1027 W. Addison across from Wrigley Field. Zoom out: Pricy trading cards hit a moment in 2020 as the pandemic forced people to unearth treasures while holed up at home, Axios reported at the time. What's next: The company has job postings on its website for the Chicago store.

Tom Brady attends grand opening of his new shop in the Hamptons

Tom Brady attends grand opening of his new shop in the Hamptons originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia Football legend, broadcaster, Hamptons shop owner? Tom Brady has a new business venture on New York's famed East End. The future Hall of Fame quarterback was in town Thursday for the grand opening of his trading card and collectibles store on New York's ritzy East End. Fans lined the street in East Hampton, braving the rain and unseasonable chill on the eve of Memorial Day weekend, as CardVault by Tom Brady officially opened its doors. 'What's up East Hampton? How we doing?' Brady said to the crowd. 'We had a plan, and we wanted to make sure that we had the greatest hobby shop in America out here in East Hampton for you guys.' Brady, who won seven Super Bowls and three NFL MVP awards, threw footballs and packs of cards into the crowd gathered near the shop before making his way down the sidewalk for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Among the first to enter the shop Thursday was New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who at one point got behind the register with Brady. 'All these youngsters out here who love collecting, love sports, this is how you get engaged in the hobby,' Brady said. 'It's fun. You follow this, it brings the community together.' Inside the white brick building with Brady's name on its façade is a showroom offering a variety of sports and trading cards, ranging from Pokémon to six-figure baseball cards. Beyond the store's signature steel vault door is autographed memorabilia and a back lounge for trading. 'It's something for everybody,' said co-founder Chris Costa. 'It's the entry-level collector and fan that maybe want to get back into collecting or wants to buy their first box, all the way up to the most seasoned collectors that are looking to offload vintage cards or chase their next Tom Brady one-of-one.' Brady earlier this year acquired a 50% stake in CardVault, which also has locations in Boston, Foxborough, Connecticut and New Jersey that are centered around arenas, ballparks and stadiums. He attended the opening of the store's fourth location last month at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey — just a Hail Mary pass away from MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and Jets. Now Brady has moved into another backyard of Eli Manning's, the former Giants quarterback who owns a house in the area, and who defeated Brady twice in the Super Bowl. So, does Brady display any memorabilia of his new neighbor? 'We've got Eli Manning helmets, we've got Eli Manning jerseys, we've got it all,' Costa said, adding that Brady's passion as a collector and love for the business transcends all. 'Tom is not just a spokesperson for our business, he's a partner,' Costa said. 'And when he's involved, he's involved … It's day-to-day, constant communication. What's next? What's the plan? Throwing ideas against the wall, and being in our new stores, and not just for openings. Stopping by, checking in on the teams, making sure the customers and community see him. 'Tom wouldn't miss it for the world. He's so excited about this industry and this business and about our customers, it's hard to get him not to come.' Brady's latest business venture officially opened just in time for peak summer season in the Hamptons – a string of seaside communities known for its arts, culture and beaches. And, of course, for its high-profile occupants like its newest shop owner. 'East Hampton … it's a smaller community and the local hobby shop was really important to my love of collecting and my love of this great hobby,' Brady said. 'So, it's nice that we can do it at big stadiums, we can do it all over the country, but to be here is really special.'

How Tom Brady is turning his childhood passion for cards into a business empire

Tom Brady's journey is a story of defying the odds , from the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft to a seven-time Super Bowl champion. Yet, in a more personal reflection, Brady recently inaugurated CardVault by Tom Brady , a premium sports card and memorabilia store, marking a full-circle moment in his life. This flagship store, located at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey, isn't just another business venture. For Brady, it's a connection to his roots, where his love for trading cards first began. Brady has been fascinated with sports cards since childhood, spending hours at his local card shop, flipping through cards and dreaming of rookie treasures like the 1984 Don Mattingly Topps card. He recalls how those early years shaped him, not just in terms of sports knowledge, but in vital life skills. 'Math, economics, business, friendship, relationships, time management, integrity, asset management, financial discipline, investment strategy — I learned all of these things through my love for trading cards,' he shared in his 199 newsletter. This passion ultimately helped shape his approach to greatness both on and off the field. CardVault isn't just a store, it's an educational experience. Brady aims to inspire the next generation of collectors, offering a space where enthusiasts, whether they're newcomers or seasoned collectors, can immerse themselves in the world of sports cards. The store's immersive design and community-focused approach reflect Brady's desire to pass on his knowledge and passion for the hobby, ensuring that collecting remains relevant in the digital age. Since opening its first location near Gillette Stadium, followed by others at Foxwoods Casino and TD Garden, the New Jersey store marks the fourth and most prominent addition. Co-founder Chris Costa shared insights into their strategy of placing stores in high-foot-traffic locations, such as near stadiums, arenas, and retail hubs. This ensures that potential collectors even those who might not actively seek out a card store are exposed to the hobby in exciting, unexpected ways. The business is seeing significant growth, especially since Brady's involvement. Costa revealed, 'Our business is up 50% month over month with Tom on as a partner,' crediting Brady's reputation, insights, and network for helping propel the store's success. It's clear that Brady's influence has been a key factor in driving the store's expansion. The Brady Effect: More Than Just a Name Brady's involvement in CardVault extends far beyond just being a recognizable face. He brings deep passion and valuable insights to the business. Costa highlighted the importance of Brady's input in shaping the direction of the store. 'Tom's vision, his team, and his love for the hobby have been instrumental in the changes we've made,' Costa said. But the Brady effect isn't just about business acumen. It also plays a significant role in attracting customers and partners. Costa explained that Brady's name opens doors, providing them with negotiating leverage, especially in securing prime retail spaces. "Who wouldn't want Tom Brady opening a business in their local property?" Costa joked, emphasizing how Brady's involvement has elevated CardVault's profile. Creating a Collecting Community CardVault's success also stems from its strategy of making sports cards accessible to everyone. While it caters to seasoned collectors with high-value items, the store also ensures that there are plenty of affordable cards for newcomers. Whether it's a Tom Brady card for $30 or an Eli Manning card for $5, the store encourages people to start their collection at their own pace. In a world dominated by digital platforms like eBay, where collectors often rely on price comparisons, CardVault offers a unique advantage: immediate transactions. 'One of the benefits of having a brick-and-mortar store is you can give the customer cash now,' Costa explained. This liquidity encourages collectors to reinvest their money into new cards, providing them with a dynamic, hands-on experience that digital platforms can't match. The Future of CardVault: Expanding Across the U.S. Looking ahead, the vision for CardVault is clear, expand quickly and bring the excitement of collecting to fans across the country. Costa mentioned that they plan to open a store a month, with new locations strategically placed at venues adjacent to iconic stadiums and arenas. This model not only capitalizes on foot traffic but also creates a lasting connection between fans and the world of sports cards. In the coming years, we can expect to see CardVault's influence grow, with Brady's vision continuing to shape the future of sports card collecting . 'We're trying to be the entry point for the new collector, while still being able to support the advanced collector,' Costa said. As Brady's personal collection continues to evolve, fans can expect to see pieces of his history on display at these new locations, further cementing the connection between the athlete, the hobby, and the community of collectors. For Brady, it's not just about trading cards , it's about creating a space where passion, learning, and nostalgia converge, offering a gateway for the next generation to discover the joy of collecting. Tom Brady opens sports card shop at American Dream in New Jersey

Against the Jets he was booed, and against the Giants he was beaten. But now, Tom Brady is opening a shop just a spiral's throw away from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. His new store in the American Dream mall is about collecting and connecting. CardVault by Tom Brady is a new way to buy, sell or trade pieces of history. Chris Costa, co-founder of CardVault, says Brady joins a growing list of impressive people who are collecting cards now. "Not just Tom, but other huge notable athletes. Derek Jeter, Mike Trout, LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama. They're collecting some of their own stuff and other players' stuff," Costa said. "So, cards are cool finally, again!" Tom Brady has seven Super Bowl rings, but here the trophies are of cardboard behind glass. "You can come into our store, and you can buy a $1, $5, $10 Pokémon card," Costa said. "Or you could also go into our single section and buy a $200,000 Mickey Mantle rookie card." Yes, there is an actual vault. We could not see inside, but behind its steel door are legends like Mantle, Michael Jordan and Brady himself. "There's been Joe Montana, there's been Terry Bradshaw, and now there's Tom Brady. That's our generation's GOAT," said David Karpinski, a New York Giants fan. "So, no matter who you are, even if you are a Jets fan, you got to respect the fact that he's here." In a town built on rivalries, Tom Brady's success transcends the rivalry. "Not from Giants fans! 'Cause we already beat him twice and he already knows what time it is," another fan said. Even the fiercest of rivalries soften when you are collecting joy. The store at American Dream is the fourth CardVault location.
