A study titled ' ' from the Cardiovascular Health Study found that physical activity significantly increases years of life and years of self-reported healthy life, especially among older adults. And a 100-year-old woman named Ruth is a living proof of this! In an Instagram video shared by Club on August 18, host Ryan James interviews 100-year-old Ruth working out at a gym. She can be seen seated on an elliptical machine and finishing her 4 miles. When asked about what makes her look and feel so fit and young, Ruth casually mentions that she exercises for an hour each day, covering nearly four miles on the equipment. Her discipline and energy stunned viewers, showing that age truly is just a number. The secret behind her longevity Ryan then asked Ruth her secret to longevity, she revealed, 'When I retired, I started walking four miles a day, and that's just what keeps you going. A lot of exercise, plenty of sleep. I go to bed at 9:30 every night, and I eat a lot of vegetables, trying to keep healthy.' Her daughter, who is now 78 years old, also accompanies her to the gym— a beautiful example of how healthy habits can inspire generations to lead long life. For Ruth, health isn't just about the body; it's about living life fully. 'Would you say that you're rich?' Ryan asked. With a gentle smile, Ruth replied, 'I think I am. A study titled ' ' states, 'walking as a powerful anti-aging intervention that can reduce the risk of chronic age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Walking also improves pain and function in musculoskeletal disorders, promotes sleep and mental health and increases resilience. A brisk walk for at least 30 min, 5 days a week, is recommended to meet physical activity guidelines. ..Incorporating regular walking into daily routines should be encouraged as a key strategy for healthy aging and disease prevention.' Ruth's story is proof that it's never too late to prioritise yourself and your health.
