The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) says officers used a taser to subdue a resident that approached police with a knife.
Just before midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 12, MJPS officers were called to a home on the 600 block of Caribou Street West following a 911 call.
During the call, a resident threatened to harm themselves, police say.
Officers arrived at the home and learned that the individual had locked themselves inside a room and had a knife in their possession.
Officers were able to break into the room – where they discovered the individual had harmed themselves. Police say they began to approach officers while brandishing the knife.
An officer drew and deployed their taser — and safely gained control of the situation. The resident was taken to hospital by paramedics.
MJPS continues to investigate the incident.
