Carletonville woman robbed at knifepoint in early-morning home invasion

A resident of one of Carletonville's newer extensions was left traumatised after being robbed at knifepoint in the early hours of Monday morning, 29 July. According to a reliable source, the 33-year-old woman was asleep in her home in Magaliesberg Street, near the Welverdiend entrance into Carletonville, when she was startled by a loud noise at around 02:55. Curious and alarmed, she got up to investigate the source of the disturbance. To her shock, she came face-to-face with an unknown man in her kitchen. The intruder, who reportedly spoke isiZulu and was wearing a coat, was armed with a knife. He threatened to stab her if she screamed or made any noise. In a panic, the woman was forced to remain silent while the suspect grabbed her television set and fled the scene. A neighbouring house was also reportedly broken into. It is suspected that the same man may be responsible for both crimes. The Carletonville police have opened a case of house robbery and are currently investigating. No arrests had been made at the time of publication. Local residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour in the area to their nearest police station or community policing forum. 📞 To report information about this case, contact Carletonville SAPS at 018 787 9300.
