'Les Misérables' adds more shows in Manila, now extended until March 2026
'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' in Manila is officially getting extended! Originally set to run from January 20 to February 15, 2026, the international production will now finish its Manila run on March 1, 2026, at The Theatre at Solaire, giving audiences an additional two weeks to see the international tour. High ticket demand prompted Cameron Mackintosh, in association with Nick Grace Management and GMG Productions, to add the two-week extension to the Manila season. 'From the moment we announced Les Misérables: The World Tour Spectacular, it was clear how deeply the show resonated with Filipino audiences,' said GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal. "This production is a version of the show that has never been seen before on the Manila stage, and we're thrilled that even more fans will now get the chance to experience it," he added. An expanded staging of "Les Misérables: The Staged Concert," which ran for over 200 performances in London's West End, the World Tour production will feature newly designed sets and lighting, an international all-star cast, and a live orchestra made up of Filipino and foreign musicians. The full cast, meanwhile, will be announced in the coming months. The upcoming tour coincides with the 40th anniversary of the original production, promising a breathtaking reimagining of the musical 'on a scale the Philippines has never seen before.' Based on Victor Hugo's novel, 'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. It will be directed by James Powell and Jean-Pierre Van Der Spuy, with set design by Matt Kinley and costumes by Andreane Neofitou, Christine Rowland, and Paul Wills. The final 'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' show dates have been released, and tickets are available exclusively through TicketWorld beginning Monday. — Hermes Joy Tunac, Sherylin Untalan/LA, GMA Integrated News
