Woman doused in gasoline by boyfriend armed with gun, Pierce County deputies say
A 53-year-old man is suspected of dousing his girlfriend with gasoline and pointing a gun at her near Spanaway. Deputies were dispatched at around 6:30 p.m. Monday to the 19600 block of Canyon Road East where the woman was living at a camp in the woods, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office wrote in a news release. Deputies found the woman in a tent and said she told them she had been covered with the gasoline, according to body camera footage. Two dogs appeared to be with her that also had gasoline on them. The gasoline burned the woman's skin and left her in discomfort, Sheriff's Office spokesperson deputy Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune. She was offered medical attention, water to get the gasoline off her body and a change of clothes. 'Once deputies found the victim, they knew they had to locate the boyfriend since he was armed and dangerous. K9 Clark and his handler were called to the scene to begin the search for the suspect,' the release said. 'You need to come out now, before my dog finds you and when he does he will bite you,' the handler was heard saying in the body-camera footage. The K-9 spent over 30 minutes combing through the thick woods and rough terrain to find the man, the release said. He found the sawed-off shotgun that the man allegedly pointed at the woman. The dog also found the man near a small body of water. The man was booked into the Pierce County Jail. Before he was booked, fire personnel treated him for a K-9 bite. Prosecutors charged him with first-degree animal cruelty, felony harassment, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun, court documents show. A plea of not guilty was entered on the man's behalf during his arraignment Wednesday, documents show. Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner Barbara McInvaille set the man's bail at $125,000. The release said a large portion of calls that deputies are dispatched to regard domestic violence. 'For domestic violence resources and help, contact the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center to speak with an Advocate (253) 798-4166, or visit their website at Pierce County Family Justice Center, WA | Official Website,' the release said.

Child, 7, fires BB gun at windows of Pierce County elementary school, deputies say
Brookdale Elementary School in Parkland was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a child shot BBs gun through the windows. Deputies were dispatched at 9:08 a.m. to the 600 block of 132nd Street South for reports of shots fired and a teacher saying two windows were shattered, Pierce County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune. People in the area were interviewed, and deputies checked the area, Cappetto said. Once it was determined the shots came from a nearby home, deputies contacted the homeowners, she said. They learned their 7-year-old son had shot his BB Gun Glock replica towards the school. The child was gifted the gun from a family member and thought it was a 'toy.' No one was injured and no arrests were made. Deputies took in the BB gun for evidence, Cappetto said. The investigation will be forwarded to the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review. 'The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is seeing more and more of these types of 'replica' BB guns with high velocity C02 cartridges. These are not toys and should not be in the hands of children,' she said. Cappetto cited an incident in May 2024 when 51-year-old Rickey Albers was shot and killed by a pellet gun in the Graham area. His girlfriend, Nicole Lynn Johnson, was charged in his death and pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in February. She has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison, The News Tribune reported.

Lakewood police tracked down the suspect shortly after and arrested him, along with three passengers in a stolen Kia. LAKEWOOD, Wash. - A man accused of robbing a United States Postal Service mail carrier at gunpoint is now sitting in Pierce County jail. What we know Deputies responded to a USPS worker reporting he was robbed by a masked man armed with a pistol just after 11:45 a.m. on Monday. The worker said the driver of a maroon Kia pulled up behind him, got out of his car wearing a full ski mask, pointed a pistol at him, and grabbed the master keys that were hanging in the mail boxes, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. The suspect then drove off, and the victim contacted authorities. Deputies interviewed the worker and were able to pull surveillance video from the surrounding neighborhood, tracking the Kia's license plate and direction of travel. The license plate did not come back to a Kia, the sheriff's department said. Lakewood police located the suspect's car a short time later and began a pursuit. Officers conducted a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, and arrested the driver, along with three passengers. According to deputies, the Kia was confirmed to be stolen, and a pistol could be seen in plain view under the driver's seat, along with the ski mask used in the robbery. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, was booked into Pierce County Jail for eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, and a Department of Corrections warrant for second-degree robbery. The sheriff's department plans to forward charges of first-degree robbery after obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle. USPS worker robbed at gunpoint on job, suspect arrested
A United States Postal Service worker was robbed of their keys while delivering mail in Spanaway. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says on March 31st, the postal worker was on his route off 212th Street Court E in a gated community when someone pulled up behind his work van, pulled a gun on him and took the keys right off the mailbox. 'The suspect had walked up to him wearing this face mask and literally just pointed a gun at him,' Deputy Carly Cappetto said. Pierce County shared body camera video where deputies found the postal worker after the robbery. He told deputies the person who robbed him was also wearing a ski mask and had taken off in a Maroon Kia. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says they were able to pull surveillance video from the surrounding neighborhood to get the license plate and direction of the vehicle; however, the license plate did not come back to the KIA which meant the vehicle was stolen. Not long after the encounter, Lakewood Police spotted the maroon Kia, pursued the vehicle and shortly arrested the 33-year-old suspect. Lakewood officers and Pierce County deputies found the stolen mail keys, a gun and the ski mask matching the description from the postal worker. Deputy Cappetto says this sort of crime can have a horrific ripple affect across the community. 'And mail theft typically leads to a lot of other crimes such as fraud or impersonation or illegally submitted tax returns,' Deputy Cappetto said. 'It could be much more than mail theft. It could be a variety of other felony crimes and those could impact people's lives significantly,' she continued. Police also found 3 passengers inside the stolen vehicle who were later released at the scene since they were not a part of the robbery. The suspect is in the Pierce County Jail facing charges ranging from eluding police, possession of a stolen vehicle and a warrant for robbery charges. Deputy Cappetto says once the warrant is complete, robbery charges will come soon.
