Carnival Cruise Line rep addresses adults-only cruise controversy

Carnival Cruise Line rep addresses adults-only cruise controversy originally appeared on Come Cruise With Me. Adults-only cruises have been a big hit for the hip Virgin Voyages cruise brand. These kid-free cruise vacations have become so popular that many cruisers have begun to wonder whether other cruise lines would break with classic cruise tradition to test out the new style of sailing, Carnival Cruise Line fans often write to the cruise line's brand ambassador, John Heald, on his popular Facebook page with questions and requests about adults-only cruises. Few people expected that the family cruise line would actually add adult-exclusive sailings, though. On his page, Heald even told passengers he didn't think that would ever happen. But then it did. Why the sudden shift? Is Carnival Cruise Line moving toward becoming an adults-only cruise line? Those were some of the questions swirling around the internet after Carnival recently announced a series of casino-exclusive sailings and SEA cruises — sailings exclusively for adults. Sailing from Miami on select dates this summer and fall aboard Carnival Conquest and Carnival Magic, these specialty itineraries are casino-focused cruises featuring expanded casino access and other perks for Carnival Players Club casino loyalty program the release of these specialty sailings led to rumors that Carnival is moving to become an adults-only cruise line, John Heald was quick to set the record straight. 'Please ignore that; we are a proud family cruise line, we have been and I'm sure we always will be,' Heald insisted in a video message posted on his Facebook page. Heald assured his followers that the only reason Carnival is offering adults-only casino cruises is because of schedule changes for Carnival cruise ship dry docks — maintenance and refurbishment that cruise ships undergo every few years.'This all is because we moved Carnival Magic's dry dock and the casino have taken a couple of cruises and made them adults only. They're making special casino offers to people,' Heald explained. Since both Carnival Magic and Carnival Conquest won't be out of service as originally planned for a few weeks later this year, the cruise line decided to offer some special invitation-only casino cruises to fill the reason these sailings are adults only is simply because they're casino cruises. 'Now, because they are casino offers, we cannot make those casino offers to children, which is why these cruises are for adults only because they are casino-based offered cruises and they are very popular,' Heald pointed out. These new offerings have made the brand ambassador more open to entertaining the possibility of future adults-only Carnival cruises, however. 'I understand why people are saying, 'Oh, we need an adults' cruise,'' Heald noted. 'So listen, I don't know what the future is going to hold, but let me just tell you we are not moving to an adults-only cruise line now.' More Carnival cruise news:Those who want to continue to enjoy Carnival cruises with kids shouldn't fret. 'This is not something that you should be concerned about because for every one person who says, 'I would love an adults-only cruise,' there are many who have written and said, 'What do I do with my children, my grandchildren?'' Heald explained. 'No, we are a proud family cruise line,' the brand ambassador reiterated. 'These were cruise-specific situations, so please ignore what some people have been highlighting.' Cruise industry files lawsuit against popular Royal Caribbean port

Cruise industry files lawsuit against popular Royal Caribbean port originally appeared on Come Cruise With Me. As Royal Caribbean's popular Quantum Class cruise ship Anthem of the Seas embarks on its first-ever adventures in the Last Frontier this summer, a new battle is heating up between the cruise industry and one of its ports of call. A total of four Royal Caribbean ships are sailing in Alaska this summer, taking adventurous cruisers to explore sought-after ports like Sitka, Juneau, and of their popularity with cruise travelers, all three of these Alaska ports have been grappling with how to effectively manage cruise tourism to protect the environment and quality of life in their communities. Although Alaska ports have mostly been working collaboratively with cruise lines on measures to regulate cruise tourism and offset its impacts, one port recently adopted a controversial cruise ship ordinance, igniting a fight that will now be settled in court. Doug Parker shared details on the Alaska cruise port lawsuit, and other cruise news including significant cruise schedule changes made by Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean, on the May 29th edition of Cruise News Cruise News Today with Doug Parker. Good morning, here's your cruise news for Thursday, May 29th. Carnival Cruise Line has canceled seven sailings aboard Carnival Conquest in January over a rescheduled dry dock. Now the impacted cruises — originally three and four-night Bahamas sailings from Miami — are now off the website and not open for booking. Impacted guests can rebook comparable sailings with price protection, onboard credits, and possible airfare reimbursement. Full refunds are also available. No reason was given for the dry dock shift, but the original dates are now offered as casino sailings. Similar dry dock changes have also recently impacted Carnival Magic and Carnival the cruise industry is suing the town of Skagway in southeast Alaska over a new tax ordinance. Yeah, the policy passed late last year allows Skagway to collect sales tax on full-price cruise excursions, including commissionable fees. The Cruise Line International Association argues that this violates state and federal law, calling it unfair. Skagway officials say it ensures consistent taxation for all tourists, regardless of how they're booked. The lawsuit filed in state court seeks to overturn the ordinance and recover legal Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas is arriving ahead of schedule again and adding another sailing. Yeah, the cruise line has announced a new four-night showcase cruise departing Port Canaveral on August 16th. This will be visiting CocoCay and offering two days at sea. This is the fourth preview sailing ahead of the ship's official seven-night Caribbean cruise on August 31st. Guests booked on later cruises can now join this cruise if they'd cruise line stocks were down on Wednesday. Carnival Corporation: down two and a half percent, 23.00, Royal Caribbean: down two percent, 250.80, Norwegian: down three percent, 17.54, and Viking: down 1.3 percent, 44.32. Carnival Cruise Line cancels more cruises, adds adults-only cruises

Carnival Cruise Line cancels more cruises, adds adults-only cruises originally appeared on Come Cruise With Me. "We are sorry to inform you that the above cruises, including yours, have been canceled.' That's a notice that most cruisers never expect to receive, but unfortunately, it's one that some Carnival cruise passengers were blindsided by it was some Carnival Magic and Carnival Horizon passengers who received this type of news in April, and now passengers booked on certain sailings on another ship have learned their cruises are canceled, too. Why is Carnival Cruise Line canceling cruises? It all stems from changes made to the schedule for Carnival cruise ship dry docks — changes that were likely outside of the cruise line's control, since the shipyard manages that schedule. Like most cruise lines' ships, Carnival cruise ships are scheduled to go to dry dock every few years for routine maintenance and updates. Cruise lines typically know far in advance when each ship will be out of service for its dry dock, and they plan their cruise itineraries around that. However, sometimes schedule changes happen. Unfortunately, when those changes happen, a few cruises usually get canceled as a result. And in this case, as some Carnival cruises were canceled, a few controversial new cruises were added too — adults-only sailings that break with family cruise line Carnival Magic, Carnival Conquest just had its dry dock postponed from 2025 to early 2026. Carnival Conquest, which sails short Bahamas cruises from Miami year-round, was originally scheduled to go to dry dock in late summer 2025. Now, the ship will go in January 2026 instead, resulting in the cancellation of multiple cruises that were scheduled to depart on the ship between Jan. 5 and Jan. 26, passengers will receive full refunds of their cruise fares and any pre-purchased items, but are also being offered the opportunity to book an alternative voyage. Carnival is protecting these passengers' cruise rates on comparable sailings in similar accommodations. If they rebook on another voyage, they will also receive an onboard credit of $50 per passenger ($100 maximum per stateroom). The cruise line is also reimbursing passengers up to $200 per person for any nonrefundable air expenses and/or change fees as the cruise line did as a result of Carnival Magic's dry dock schedule change, Carnival has now added additional sailings on board Carnival Conquest in August and September 2025 in order to fill the schedule gap left by the ship's postponed dry dock. Rather than add more of the ship's usual three- and four-day Bahamas cruises during that time, the cruise line decided to take the opportunity to add four specialty adults-only sailings that caught many cruisers by surprise. These adults-only cruises, which are similar to a few of the sailings already added on Carnival Magic, have been a hot topic among loyal Carnival cruisers, since they don't fit with Carnival's family cruise line image. More Carnival cruise news:It's important to understand, though, that the newly added SEA cruises — sailings exclusively for adults — are adults-only because they're casino cruises, which aren't for kids. The SEA cruises feature expanded casino access, casino-friendly ports, and other perks to help adult passengers maximize casino playing time. These Carnival SEA cruises also aren't open to the general public, at least not yet. Right now, they're only being offered to Carnival Players Club casino loyalty program members during an early-access period that runs until June 9. After that, the limited sailings will open to the public, if they're not already sold out. Carnival Cruise brawl caught on video as ship slapped with 'DO NOT SAIL' warning

A shocking video caught the moment a massive brawl sparked between dozens of travellers on a Carnival Cruise ship before more than 20 people were punished and landed up on "Do Not Sail" list because of the horror brawl. Dramatic footage showed terrifying scenes with passengers throwing punches and items at each other after a week-long trip in the Western Caribbean. The chaotic fight erupted as passengers were getting off the Carnival Jubilee cruise. A video, caught and shared by one of the travellers, initially showed a group of people throwing punches at one passenger who ended up on the ground. People then forced themselves past a barrier and chased after one of the other passengers on board and appeared to tackle that person to the floor. Security rushed to the scene and attempted to break up the fight but dozens of people kept exchanging blows at each other and especially at one man. The horror incident broke out just as the week-long journey had ended at a cruise terminal in Galveston, Texas, on Saturday April 26. This fight was caught at what appeared to be the baggage claim area as rows of suitcases were lined up where the brawl started. A spokesperson for Carnival Cruise confirmed 24 people were banned from travelling with the cruise liner after the shocking fight. In a statement to USA Today, the company said: "The incident occurred in the debarkation area under the authority of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. The matter was turned over to law enforcement. We will not tolerate such behavior, and 24 people have been placed on our Do Not Sail list." The Port of Galveston Police Department responded following "an altercation" at Cruise Terminal 25, according to an emailed statement. The CBP "detained several individuals" and authorities reported that one person was charged by police at the port, but details of the charge have not been shared. The video was shared by Facebook user Trelle Ray who captioned the video, which has been viewed over one million times, "It went down this morning." The week-long cruise departed from Galveston on Saturday, April 19, and made several stops across the Caribbean, according to CruiseMapper. These included Costa Maya in Mexico and Roatan Island in Honduras. This has not been the first time a fight has ignited at sea as around 60 people were involved in a brawl off the New York Coty coast in 2022. Glasses and bottles were reportedly used as weapons in a nightclub on the Carnival Magic ship. A clip from the boat appeared to show the fight initially start as a row between two people as dozens more started to get involved in the scrap. The Coast Guard was called out to the incident and escorted the vessel back to port where NYPD cops were waiting.
