Owning A Plane Costs As Much As An MG Hector? Reddit Post Sparks Conversation
Owning a plane might be a dream for many young entrepreneurs and businessmen. However, owning a plane might not be as expensive as it seems. Recently, we came across a Reddit post, suggesting that "owning a plane, all-inclusive costs about as much as an MG Hector". The post has now steered a conversation among car and aircraft enthusiasts on the platform. In a Reddit post, user kraken_enrager sparked a discussion, stating, "Lately I have gotten into aviation and was looking at what a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) might cost in terms of capital and operating costs, and what I discovered staggered me." "LSAs that I have been looking at use about 26-30 litres of fuel per hour at 160 knots (300kmph). I'm looking at about total running costs of 5-7k per hour, which means, when you include tolls, maintenance, bad roads, and whatnot, owning a plane, all inclusive, costs about as much as an MG Hector would." Look at the actuals here, adulterated petrol is 20 rupees more expensive, while giving 20% less fuel." However, the internet fetched humour over the discussion with users' comments like- "Potatoes are Rs 40/kg. They're not powering any cars though." Other user stated- "Armchair experts desperately try to sound clever by making oversimplified comparisons." Aviation fuel is cheaper than petrol. by u/kraken_enrager in CarsIndia Meanwhile, a few users also discussed the topic, presenting facts and figures on the platform. A user explained that if a small aircraft operates between Airports Authority of India (AAI) airports, parking fees are minimal, less than Rs 20 per ton per hour, and the first two hours are free. Aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight under 10,000 kg are exempt from landing charges. Also, eliminating the ground handling agent can keep the cost low, but regulatory compliance can be challenging.

What Happens When You Damage A Test Drive Car? Bengaluru Resident Finds Out... Accidentally
A Bengaluru resident was slapped with Rs 11,800 bill after they rammed a test drive vehicle, Tata Altroz, into the parking wall. Now they have questions. There is no practical way to discover what happens after you crash a test drive vehicle other than by ramming it. Although unintended, a Bengaluru resident recently discovered the costs of an accident after colliding with a company's test-drive vehicle. Sharing their unique yet bizarre experience, a Reddit user recently took the advice of the community of r/CarsIndia and informed them about an incident that has left them in a state of despair. Narrating that their choice of car was Tata's Altroz, user u/duckDuckBro shared that they bumped the car into a wall while parking it. They claimed that they wanted to see how convenient it was to park the hatchback. The mishap resulted in damage to the right-hand side door and the rear panel. 'Went to test drive the new Altroz in Bangalore, I accidentally bumped it on the side while turning into the parking lot (wanted to see how easy it is to park). The right hand side door and back panel got scratched and dented." Realising that they had no other option than to pay upfront for the damages they incurred to the dealership, the Reddit user claimed that they paid Rs 5,000 in damages and asked for a bill. What began as a fleeting, unpleasant incident escalated when the Altroz enthusiast received a 'pakka" bill from the dealership detailing the costs of damages caused during the parking mishap. The Bill The dealership's alleged bill indicated two repair costs: Right-Hand Quarter Panel Right Hand Rear Door The first panel's repair and repainting were billed at Rs 3500. The second dent, the door, required Rs 6,500 to fix the damage. All in all, the OP was slapped with a bill amount of Rs 11,800. Queries Among the four questions put forth by the distressed Reddit user, two stood out: 1) 'Shouldn't these [test drive] cars insured? Is it normal for them to ask me for money?" 2) 'The sales lady told me that they will deduct the amount from her salary. Can they do that or is she just saying that to gain empathy?" The original poster further questioned whether, since the dealership also owned the service centre, it would be convenient for them to quote a price at their discretion. What Does Reddit Think? The car enthusiast community came together to share their perspectives and theories on what might have transpired in the OP's situation. 'The sales lady put that 5k in her pocket and is now trying to loot more money from you by sending this ss. Ask her to send the final bill and a copy of the insurance of that car. Tell her that you are complaining to TuTA [Tata] motors that you took 5k from me and didn't provide me a receipt. That's the only chance that you will get your money back, (sic)" user u/falcontitan suspected. The OP also informed the folks that they lacked experience in driving and felt bad about the damage. However, they wanted to pay the right amount and not get duped into paying more than they owed the dealership. 'I certainly was negligent and don't have much experience driving. I understand legally have no obligation to pay. But I would like to pay because I genuinely feel bad. I just wanna make sure it's the right amount." A user, in response, stated that there was 'no need to pay". 'There is no requirement for you to pay for the damage. Test ride cars are prone to damages/ accidents and hence they are insured. Any damaged caused by a customer during test ride will be claimed using Insurance and customer is not liable to pay for it. (sic)" Are Test Drive Vehicles Insured? Under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, every vehicle on the road must have insurance coverage, whether registered or not. 'To comply with this law, car dealers are required to purchase motor insurance for vehicles used for test drives. Before taking a trial drive, it's important to check with the dealership whether the automobile is properly insured," a report in HDFC Ergo car insurance stated. Different cars come with different sets of controls that you may not be familiar with. So it becomes an absolute necessity for the test drive car to be insured, the report added. Public Can Issue Challans And Earn Rs 50,000 A Month. Will This 'Snitching' Work?
Last Updated: Citizens can now click images of traffic violators and submit them to 'Prahari' app, launched by Delhi Traffic Police, and earn as much as Rs 50,000 cash prize monthly. Annoyed by the reckless drivers on the road? You can now report dangerous motorists to the cops. Moreover, you will be rewarded for being a responsible citizen by helping to keep road miscreants in check. In a welcome initiative, the Delhi Traffic Police have launched a movement that will assist them in enforcing traffic rules with the assistance of the local public. In short, you can don the hat of a traffic cop and issue challans to fellow citizens who break laws right in front of your eyes. While the Delhi Traffic Police's innovative campaign has sparked significant public interest, it has also raised an important question: will 'snitching" on each other be effective? 'I think this is necessary evil," a user, replying to a viral post on Reddit's r/CarsIndia, wrote. Titled 'Do you think this will work? Have you tried it?" several folks have responded with their own takes, experiences, and surfaced scenarios where the initiative may work or falter. 'There are 100 ways this can be misused. 2-wheelers can be moved from their parking space to no parking area or road and pics can be taken. Money as an incentive can make people do a lot of things to misuse it. I saw a lot of people reporting violations even without hoping for incentive. That's how it should be, (sic)" another added. Drastic measures had to be taken, and a new system was not devoid of flaws, wrote a third in support of the crowdsourced challan drive. 'Every system has its own flaws. Something is better than nothing. Driving in India is becoming a nightmare. So drastic measures have to be taken." 'Out of all terrible ideas, they chose this. In a resource scarce country where everyone is toiling day and night and working informal jobs to make ends meet. This type of scheme is like squid games nothing else," a netizen wondered if the drive would lead to chaos. 'Im at chandni chowk and just started using this and reported two incident already, (sic)" a user claimed that they were active on the app and had reported a couple of incidents. 'Idiots will report without knowing law, they will report based on dislikes/likes, insecurities. This has so much potential to go wrong especially with our crowd (sic)." 'Is Holding people accountable now called snitching? (sic)" quipped a Reddit user. Can It Be Misused? The photos submitted to the Delhi Traffic Police will be verified and processed appropriately. Recognising that the rule could be misused for personal disputes, the authorities will verify the legitimacy of all submissions. When the process is complete, the offending vehicle's owner will be issued a challan, while the contributor will be notified. Speaking to Local18 last month, DCP Traffic SK Singh revealed that 1400-1500 challans were being submitted daily by proactive public. What Are The Rewards? There are four tiers to this reward system. An individual can earn a maximum cash prize of Rs 50,000 through this initiative. The contributor in fourth place will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000. 1st Place – Rs 50,000 2nd Place – Rs 25,000 3rd Place – Rs 15,000 4th Place – Rs 10,000 Prahari Coined Prahari, which translates to 'guard" or 'watchman", the app can be downloaded from the app store, and users can register themselves on it using their mobile number and OTP to start submitting challans to the authorities.
