Texas A&M Football Lands Elite Class of 2026 Edge Rusher Tristian Givens Over Two Power Four Schools Tennessee and Washington

Texas A&M Football Lands Elite Class of 2026 Edge Rusher Tristian Givens Over Two Power Four Schools Tennessee and Washington originally appeared on Athlon Sports. "I'm home. Recruitment shut down. #GigEm," Texas A&M football's latest commitment told On3's Hayes Fawcett in announcing his decision. Advertisement The Aggies picked up its 19th recruit from the class of 2026 on Saturday, June 21. After his visit to College Station on June 20, this five-star edge rusher had his sights set on Texas A&M. Texas A&M football head coach Mike Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports Carver High School's Tristian Givens is the second five-star player to join the Aggies class of 2026 commitment roster. No. 10 overall recruit Brandon Arrington was the first. Givens is the No. 61 overall and No. 7 edge. He's also the sixth pick out of Georgia. In his scouting reporter, Andrew Ivins wrote: "Linear edge rusher with some explosive take-offs and a high pressure rate that has a chance to bake into a true difference-maker up front. Still relatively new to the role after starting prep career off as a pass catcher, but has attacked with no shortage of urgency from both a two- and three-point stance in a multi-look front. Lacks polish at the stage, but transitions from speed to power with ease and can will his way around offensive tackles . . . Multi-sport profile and testing data aligns with most of the edge assassins being selected in the early rounds of the NFL Draft these days." The edge rusher received 33 offers and narrowed his decision down to Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Washington. According to Texas A&M Aggies on SI, he also had unofficial visits with USC and Florida State. Advertisement This is the third edge rusher to join head coach Mike Elko's group of rising juniors. Four-stars Samu Moala and Jordan Carter previously committed to the Aggies. However, it's been rumored that Moala's decision has potential to flip over to USC. So despite having two edge rushers committed already, having not only a third but an elite player at that brings stability to this position of the class. Man sentenced to 37 years for shooting at Winston-Salem officers during pursuit

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A Forsyth County man was sentenced to 37 years in prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to multiple felonies, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. According to a press release, Tyree Ray Long, 28, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of a firearm, 17 years for assault on a federal officer and 10 years for discharging a firearm on law enforcement. On Apr. 21, 2022, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in which a woman reported that her boyfriend, Long, shot at her and her daughter as they tried to drive away from their home after an argument. Long hit the car four times, but no one was injured. 18-year-old faces multiple charges in Carver High School parking lot shooting The following day, members of the U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force went to a Winston-Salem hotel to serve Long with an arrest warrant, charging him with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present. Long was identified in the driver's seat of a Ford Fusion in a parking space when at least seven law enforcement cars blocked his exit. After he was given commands to show his hands, Long drove forward, striking at least two law enforcement cars, one of which was occupied by a U.S. Marshal. He then entered University Parkway Southbound and led officers on a three-mile chase through business and residential areas, including off-campus Wake Forest University student housing. During the chase, Long began shooting from the window of his car, firing at officers approximately ten times. 2 sentenced in 2022 killing of 17-year-old, Forsyth County court documents show The pursuit ended in a crash, and Long fired one round at an officer during a foot chase. He was arrested shortly afterwards. Long pleaded guilty in August to one count of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of assault on a federal officer by use of a deadly and dangerous weapon and one count of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
