Casio to Release New MT-G Featuring an Original Frame Co-Created by Humans and AI
Newly Developed Structure Fusing Different Materials TOKYO, May 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the latest addition to the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches: the MTG-B4000. This new timepiece features a distinctive frame developed in a process of collaboration between human designers and AI technology. The MTG-B4000 joins the MT-G line of timepieces, all of which utilize a unique construction that makes the most of the properties of both metal and resin. The new MTG-B4000 is a shock-resistant watch featuring a distinctive frame that was developed in a process of collaboration between human designers and generative AI and uses a combination of different materials. For the first time in a Casio consumer timepiece, generative AI technology was integrated into the development process. In pursuit of innovative craftsmanship, designers employed this advanced technology as a creative tool to explore new design possibilities and conquer the challenge of realizing a complex, unconventional structure which would have been difficult to achieve using traditional methods. Starting with design proposals from human designers, AI conducted load simulations using decades of accumulated data on shock-resistant construction for G-SHOCK. It then proposed optimal structural configurations by evaluating factors such as structural strength, material characteristics, and machinability. These AI-generated designs were refined through repeated testing and adjustments by skilled human hands, resulting in a frame that delivers the G-SHOCK signature ruggedness with a distinctive, unconventional aesthetic only achievable through AI collaboration. A new approach was also introduced by integrating the band connection parts into the frame. This allows the frame to directly absorb loads applied to the band, reducing impact on the center case and further enhancing shock resistance. Museum Acts as Casio's Own Memory Lane
Say the name Casio, and people will usually have a story to tell — often a memory involving a first watch or a synthesizer that they played with while growing up. It was 1986 when Haider Kareem, a Casio watch collector who posts on Instagram as vintagecasios, got his first Casio: a W50U World Time. 'I was fascinated by its ability to track different time zones, and to this day, I still have it,' said Mr. Kareem, who lives in the English county of Oxfordshire. 'That watch sparked a lifelong appreciation for Casio's innovation and practicality.' Today, he owns more than 300 Casios. There is a place in Tokyo where fans can take a trip down Casio's own memory lane: the Toshio Kashio Memorial Museum of Invention, a Western-style house filled with inventions by the Kashio brothers, the founders of the company. (Mr. Kareem said the museum was on his itinerary for a trip to Tokyo in May; he missed it during a previous one because he didn't realize that reservations were required, even though entry was free of charge.) Akira Watanabe, who works in corporate communications at Casio Computer Co., gave the reporter a tour of the museum. Credit... Andrew Faulk for The New York Times On a recent wintry day, I headed to the museum, which stands in the affluent Seijo neighborhood of western Tokyo. Although I have lived in the same general area for several years, I had no idea the museum existed: There are some small signs that I had overlooked and the two-level concrete house sits well back from the street, surrounded by a large garden that is now a public park. Casio to Release G-SHOCK Watches with a Tough Silicone Band That Delivers Both Comfortable Fit and Abrasion Resistance
Lifestyle Web Release Selection By Editor_wr On Mar 17, 2025 Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the release of the newest additions to its family of G-SHOCK shock-resistant watches. Featuring a stylish metal bezel and the Tough Silicone Band, which offers a comfortable fit and enhanced abrasion resistance, the new GM-5600YM, GM-5600YMG, GM-2100YM and GM-2100YMG watches are available in four models in total. Guided by the Casio Purpose — 'Through the power to put wonder at hand, bring new levels of joy to lives one by one' — the company has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to delivering wonder and joy to customers in its Timepiece Business, pursuing functionality advancement, new material development, and unprecedented styles of expression in design. The new watches are the first shock-resistant G-SHOCK watches to feature the Tough Silicone Band. This new band leverages the properties of silicone as a material to provide flexibility and an even more comfortable fit on the wrist. The Tough Silicone Band also delivers even greater abrasion resistance, employing a dual-layer construction that protects the silicone surface with urethane resin on top. While increasing the strength of the band, the construction enables a new form of expression in design as well, with vapor deposition applied to the resin. The GM-5600YM and GM-5600YMG feature the iconic form inherited from the very first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, while the GM-2100YM and GM-2100YMG employ the octagonal bezel popular for its streamlined, minimalist design. All four models feature a stylish design with a metallic shine. The watches are available in two colors: silver for a sharp look (GM-5600YM and GM-2100YM) and brilliant gold for an edgy look (GM-5600YMG and GM-2100YMG). Comments are closed.

Casio to Release G-SHOCK Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the DW-6900
TOKYO, Jan. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the release of new DW-6900TR watches which celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic round-shaped DW-6900 models, known for their triple-graph display and front button. This anniversary collection re-creates the first color variations beyond black offered in a DW-6900. The Casio purpose is: "Through the power to put wonder at hand, bring new levels of joy to lives one by one." One example is G-SHOCK, which ushered in an entirely new genre of toughness in wristwatch design, breaking industry conventions and setting new standards through innovative use of color, materials, and collaborations. The DW-6900, one of the iconic style* G-SHOCK watches, has served as the base for over 100 collaboration watches with brands, artists, and environmental organizations. * There are five iconic styles in total (including 6900): the 5000 and 5600, inheriting the form of the very first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C; the 110 with its three-dimensional dial; and the 2100 with its octagonal bezel. The new DW-6900TR shock-resistant watches commemorate the 30th anniversary of the DW-6900 by re-creating the color variations of the DW-6900H, the first model in the line to introduce colors other than black. The collection features the three colors originally used in the DW-6900H: black, red, and yellow, evoking a sense of 1990s nostalgia that transcends time. Unique to this anniversary collection, the words "SINCE 1995" — referencing the debut year of the 6900 line — appear on the LCD when the backlight is activated. Additionally, the case back is engraved with 30 stars, adding an exclusive celebratory touch. The front button is crafted from metal with a mirror finish, enhancing its texture and highlighting the "G" mark for a bold presence. The bezel and band are made with bio-based resin, which is expected to help reduce environmental impact. The packaging features the "G" mark and the signature colors of black, red, and yellow, making it a fitting presentation for this commemorative collection.
