This Sunday, July 20, is National Ice Cream Day. While it may seem like another one of those weird and made-up holidays, this sweet treat became a Presidential matter over 35 years ago. In 1984, President Ronald Regan declared July as National Ice Cream Month and July 15 as National Ice Cream Day. The holiday has been celebrated every year on the third Sunday in July. At that time, ice cream was enjoyed by over 90% of Americans, generating approximately $3.5 billion in annual sales and providing jobs for thousands of citizens, according to the proclamation. And, today it's still one of America's favorite sweet treats.
