Woman arrested in Fairfield robbery after stolen gun and cash recovered
( — The Fairfield Police Department responded to a business that was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday evening.
According to the FPD, the incident occurred at the 5000 Business Center Drive at around 6:10 p.m. When officers reviewed the surveillance footage, an area check of hotels was conducted by an officer for a person matching the suspect description.
Charges filed against former Cal Fire employee in child pornography case
During the initial groundwork, an employee at a local hotel identified the suspect as a guest who was staying at the hotel but had not returned to their room, FPD said.
At around 7:14 p.m., while officers were still investigating the case, a second armed robbery took place at another business along Business Center Drive, FPD stated. The suspect's description matched the woman who robbed the first business around 6 p.m.
Officers quickly responded and located the suspect, who was later identified as Castanya Tompkins, who is 28 years old and was walking eastbound on Business Center Drive towards Green Valley Road, according to FPD.
FPD said that the officers were able to arrest the woman and recover the firearm, which was reported stolen from Richmond, along with a large sum of cash. Tompkins was transported to Solano County Jail on charges of robbery and receipt of stolen property.
