Why Outdoor Boys Saying Goodbye To YouTube Is A Bittersweet Ending

Last Updated: Outdoor Boys run by Luke Nichols posted his last video on the YouTube channel announcing his sudden departure from the platform. Luke Nichols, the man behind the highly popular YouTube channel 'Outdoor Boys", recently uploaded a rare video that nobody wanted to click on. The caption of the video read 'Goodbye", and the uncharacteristic short length of the video indicated that this wasn't clickbait. Heck, Outdoor Boys is anything but clickbait. His departure from the video-sharing platform came as a rude shock to his 15+ million subscribers. His stepping away from video creation that he has been doing for 11 years and having posted 1110 videos on the website has sent a bittersweet feeling among his tightly-knit community. 'Hey everyone, this is going to be my last video for a little while. You know, I've been making YouTube videos for 11 years now. First with the Catfishing Carp YouTube channel, then with this, the Outdoor Boys YouTube channel. And believe it or not, I've made 1,110 videos," Nichols said in his final video. Outdoor Boys Considered a legend in the modern era of YouTube, little did Nichols know that his humble channel of outdoor adventures, hiking, fishing, extreme camping trips that his kids and wife sometimes are a part of would explode and make 'Outdoor Boys" the center of attention. From 3 millions subscribers to over 15 million subscribers in about 18 months has put 'Outdoor Boys" in the list of top-most followed YouTube channels in the world. At the time of writing this, 'Outdoor Boys" has 2,569,384,689 views. In his farewell video, Nichols admitted that there were certain channels that routinely stole his content and brought him and his family much more attention that they had ever anticipated or desired. He added that his wife and him had real life concerns regarding the kind of impact 'Outdoor Boys" would have on their family if he continued to grow on the platform at such a monumental pace. It is time for him to stop, he asserted, adding that he had to stop sooner rather than later before the situation got out of hand. 'It's time to step back and focus on helping other people for a change, and I'm excited to see where that takes me," Nichols added, stating that he would assist his oldest son, Tom, in his YouTube endeavours. 'I want to spend more time helping him with his channel and preparing him to be an adult, which is going to be in less than six years. But I've spent so much time focusing on me." Fans Have His Back Disappointed by his departure, his loyal fans still backed his decision, especially at a time when he could perhaps make a fortune out of a highly lucrative channel he has painstakingly build through a decade of hard work, passion, and endless wholesome content. 'good thing there are bajillions of videos to enjoy. sad to say goodbye but what a gift he's given us all. I was in a difficult place when I discovered the Outdoor Boys channel and it really helped me start to turn my life around. I think the fact that Luke chose to use this final message (for a while) to tell us all to carry the torch and help others is a testament to his faith and goodness and is at the core of why so many of us love the channel so much. Honor him and pass on the love, (sic)" an Outdoor Boys fan wrote on Reddit. 'I love the fact he probably has millions of dollars from YouTube and he drives a Kia. The man could go buy some tricked out Escalade or Yukon since it's Alaska, but he drives a Kia Sedona. That other kei truck he has for the remote property, that probably cost as much as the Kia. He didn't get an Atlas or some crazy tank like machine developed in Russia to conquer harsh conditions, he got that. That's humble. He probably paid off his house, fully funded his kids college educations, maxed out his retirement account and put the rest in stocks, bonds and high yield savings. He didn't go buy a Lamborghini and Bentley then start flying private to flex. He was humble. Maybe he'll do that now…(sic)," another user chimed in. What's The Future? Although this wasn't a final goodbye, Nichols will be offline till the end of the year. But that also comes with a catch. He has several unfinished projects that, if he finishes, will be uploaded towards the end of 2025. 'But if I decide to finish those videos or if I decide to film any other adventures after today, I'll post them at the end of the year all in one big dump. But no matter what, this is going to be my last video for a while." Till then, the lawyer-turned-YouTuber will help out his boy Tom with his YouTube channel titled 'Outdoor Tom".
