Glamorous grandma is attacked outside her $1M NYC home by Mafia boss's family
A grandmother was attacked outside her New York City home by two grandsons of ruthless crime boss John Gotti.
Cathy Gabrielli, 60, was punched outside her $1 million Queens home on June 2 after attempting to quell tensions between the two men who had attacked her son, Gino.
Images of the incident, obtained by the New York Post, show Gabrielli attempting to fend off the two, identified by the outlet as John Gotti Jr, 31, and Frankie Gotti, 27.
Gino told the outlet that his mother was hit in the arm by one of John Jr's punches, with police then arriving. John Jr is also dating Cathy's daughter Eleanor.
'She tried to push John off, and then he [John] hit her — and then that's when the police ran it, like ran in and broke it up', he said.
Gino also claimed that the father of the two men, Peter Gotti, had sat outside the property watching the brawl.
The two men appeared in court and were hit with third-degree attempt assault and harassment charges for the attack on Gino, they pleaded not guilty.
According to the Post, the fight started after Gino was reportedly caught on surveillance cameras breaking into the home of John Jr and his sister Eleanor.
Prosecutors say he made off with $3,000 in cash, a pair of his sister's earrings, a watch, a wallet and belt, his criminal complaint said.
He told the Post that he took the money but denied having lifted anything else from the property.
Gino also claimed the money was to cover two months' back rent that John Jr owed his grandfather.
He also claimed that he had been unfaithful to his sister, adding: 'My sister caught him cheating with the girl from Howard Beach.
'She threw him out, okay, and, and so he stopped paying rent to my grandfather. So, you know, it got me really, really p***** and upset, and that's why I went inside the apartment to collect the rent.'
Gino claimed to the outlet that as well as the alleged theft, he had wrecked a tattoo parlor belonging to the brother of John Gotti and that his father had also been slapped by a member of the mobster's family.
Gino is facing charges of burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Gerard Marrone, a lawyer for Frankie Gotti, told the NYPost: 'Who cares', when approached for comment over Gino's accusations.
John Gotti, also known as the Teflon Don, was the head of the Gambino crime family until he was sentenced to life in prison in 1992 on charges including murder and racketeering.
Known for his flash personality and an expensive wardrobe, he died behind bars from cancer in 2002.
The two Gotti brothers are due back in court on August 7 in relation to the incident involving the Gabrielli family.
