New York Times spotlights Ireland's 'Old World romance'
Ireland's Blackwater Valley, a charming area nestled in West Waterford, has been spotlighted by The New York Times thanks to its "natural splendor and Old World romance". According to journalist Catriona Gray, Lismore Castle - home to the oldest formally cultivated gardens in Ireland - is just one of the must-visit destinations in the area, which she describes as "rich in history, culture and natural beauty". The lesser-known area gets its romantic name from the Munster Blackwater, a river that rises in Kerry and flows through Cork and Waterford until it reaches Cappoquin, where it turns through Waterford to reach the sea at Youghal in Co Cork. The valley has significant heritage dating as far back as the Mesolithic period, and the river was once used as a waterway for importing coal and exporting timber for props in the coal mines of Wales. Along the banks, an area of particular interest is Dromana House and estate. Once the site of a medieval castle, the estate encapsulates extensive forest land and a unique Hindu-Gothic gate lodge built in 1825 to honour the marriage of the owners. As well as the beautiful waterways, the NY Times praised the vibrantly green land, highlighting the ancient woodland and rolling pastures available to avid hikers. Scenic views aside, the journalist insists the people, too, are a draw to tourists, with a number of businesses offering a warm welcome, including the Knights Bar in the Manor House, Ballymaloe House, the 220-acre Castlemartyr Resort, and a traditional Irish pub, the Hunted Hog. Less than an hour from Cork Airport, the piece describes the valley as a "worthy diversion if you're planning a trip to Ireland".

Sam Milby gets emotional when asked about breakup with Catriona Gray
Sam Milby did not expect to become emotional when asked about his breakup with Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. During his first visit to GMA-7, the Kapamilya actor-singer appeared as a guest on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda. Sam joined the show to promote his upcoming film, Everything About My Wife, where he stars alongside real-life couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado. During the interview, he was asked how he handles breakups. Aside from Catriona, Sam previously dated actress-TV host Anne Curtis and model-TV host Mari Jasmine. He also shared a mutual understanding with Toni Gonzaga in the past. 'Not well. I think every breakup is a different situation. Whether you're the one who got hurt or the one who caused the breakup, it depends on the circumstances. But I think any breakup is not easy,' said Sam. 'The whole country knows that you and Catriona Gray have broken up. How did it affect you? How did you handle the breakup?,' Abunda asked. 'It was a fairytale relationship as far as we were concerned. The queen had found a prince, and they were engaged. One morning, we woke up to find out that the engagement had been broken. We were distraught. How did you handle that?,' Abunda added. Sam, struggling to speak, reiterated his earlier statement: 'Honestly, not well. And like I said, any breakup is not easy. It's hard to talk about our breakup. It's something I didn't want to discuss. I did an interview with MJ Felipe [ABS-CBN reporter], which everyone knows about, and it was mainly to clear the issue.'

Miss Charm PH 2025 Cyrille Payumo apologizes for wearing Catriona Gray's gown
Miss Charm Philippines 2025 Cyrille Payumo has issued an apology following mixed reactions to her decision to wear Catriona Gray's farewell gown during the Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga coronation night. Payumo, who passed the crown to the next representative of Pampanga, wore the iconic piece designed by Mak Tumang as part of her final walk. The gown was originally worn by Gray during Miss Universe 2018. In an Instagram post, Payumo shared how humbled she was after learning that Tumang would be sponsoring her gown, with Gray's farewell dress being one of the options. 'I was informed that one of options from his masterpieces would be the farewell gown of Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray. A wave of emotions flooded over me—excitement, nerves, and a profound sense of honor. My heart swelled with awe and I felt an overwhelming sense of privilege,' she said. While Payumo felt honored to wear the piece, the decision sparked a mix of admiration and criticism, with some netizens saying it overshadowed Gray's historic achievement. Payumo then expressed regret, stating that her intention was never to cause harm or disrespect. 'To those who may have been hurt or offended, I want to clarify that causing pain was never my intention. My goal was to honor not only the victory of bringing the Miss Philippines Charm title home to Pampanga but also to celebrate the visionary artistry of Mak Tumang,' she said. 'I recognize that my actions may have unintentionally diminished the significance of Catriona Gray's monumental achievements, and for that, I am deeply sorry. I take full responsibility for any misunderstandings or hurt feelings that may have resulted,' she added. Amid the mixed reactions, Miss Universe New Zealand 2024 Victoria Velasquez Vincent voiced her support for Payumo. 'No need to apologize. The pageant realm should be apologizing for their ongoing toxic behavior towards women who have good intentions. Can't wait to see you raise our PH flag, we are so proud of you,' Vincent commented.
