Fill lakes in Dharmapuri using Cauvery Surplus Water, says AIKS president
The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) national president Ashok Dhawale has demanded diversion of the Cauvery Surplus Water and filling the lakes in Dharmapuri district.
Mr. Dhawale, who participated in the Dharmapuri district Tamil Nadu Farmers Association meeting on Union government policies and problems faced by the agricultural sector, urged the Centre to implement the recommendations of M.S. Swaminathan to safeguard farmers.
Farmers are demanding minimum support price for all their produce. Without proper prices for their produce, farmers are facing many problems. As part of the privatisation of the electricity sector, the Union government brought in the installation of smart meters. The electricity bill will increase multi-fold because of this. The reason for privatisation is for the growth of big corporates, he claimed.
Alleging that the Election Commission of India has become the B team of the BJP, Mr. Dhawale said that through the Election Commission, the BJP is including its supporters and deleting the names of non-supporters from the voter list. In the upcoming 2026 assembly elections, the BJP-AIADMK alliance should be defeated, he added.
