Storage a superpower for Cedarglen's Longview
Many parents looking for a new home will keep an eye on how a floor plan fits their children's needs — both immediate and down the road. Article content That's important because it in part dictates whether or not it can offer the family a long-term solution. Article content Article content Some of these supports include bedrooms, storage space, the bathroom and a functional work station. Article content With those characteristics in mind, the Longview by Cedarglen Homes is there for the long-haul. This is a front-drive single-family model that's available from between 2,226 and 2,375 square feet. Article content It's now displayed as a show home in the Logan Landing. This new southeast Calgary community is located near both the amenity-rich Seton Urban District and South Health Campus. Article content In the standard plan, the Longview has three bedrooms above grade. But the show home reflects an option with four bedrooms. Article content Each secondary bedroom, typically used by a child in the family, is well-sized. Along with the primary bedroom, two of these bedrooms feature a walk-in closet. Article content In turn, these bedrooms have the capacity to support children through various stages of life. Article content Article content Near these sleep spaces, there's a full bathroom that lets more than one child use it at the same time. With separate sinks on opposite walls, siblings can brush their teeth and comb their hair at the same time. Article content Article content Features in the ensuite also include a soaker tub and glass-encased shower with a stylish black frame. There's also a vanity with two sinks beneath a full-width mirror. Article content Separating the primary bedroom from the secondary bedrooms is a central bonus room. Article content In the show home, another bedroom is in its basement, which is developed as a legal suite. It also contains features that make it self-sufficient such as a kitchen and dining area. Article content Article content Children in the household are also accommodated in the main level flex room. In the show home, this space is staged with an expansive two-seater desk. In practice, this would let siblings polish off their respective home work assignments at the same time. Article content The flex room is positioned right off the foyer. This makes it a good fit for people who work from home. Its proximity to the front door is handy for retrieving work-related deliveries and greeting co-workers or clients. Article content Designed with privacy in mind, the foyer restricts views beyond the immediate space. Article content The back half of the main level is open-concept and bright. Article content It stars an elegant L-shaped kitchen with an island that seats four people. The cooking space is presented with stainless steel appliances, such as a fridge with french doors and bistro-inspired chimney-style hoodfan.

Lofty layout gives home 'flexibility and extra space'
Article content Emily Laratta and Josh Burns admit that they weren't really looking for a new home when they found themselves signing on the dotted line, 'but we weren't not looking either,' says Laratta with a laugh. Article content For six years the couple had been living in a single-family home that they had built in Calgary's northwest community of Symon's Gate. Article content Article content 'We really liked the house, but there were some things about it that weren't going to work for us in the long-term,' says Laratta, noting that the birth of their first child, Greyson, two years ago was a big driver in the decision to make a move. Article content Article content The couple purchased The Elbow, a 2,750-square-foot, three-storey loft design by Cedarglen Homes in the community of Glacier Ridge, which is also in the northwest near to Symon's Gate. Staying in the northwest was important to the family — they are ardent fans of Calgary's north quadrant. Article content Article content They'd toured around Glacier Ridge a few times and really liked the area and a year ago they came across the perfect lot. Article content 'It just kind of popped up. We'd been looking for years for a lot like this, backing onto a ravine, with no one behind us, which is really hard to find,' says Burns, who is the general manager at Divine Flooring in Calgary. Article content 'We can see farmer's fields behind us and sometimes there are even cows. We've seen deer and coyotes, too. It's really beautiful,' he says. 'With Josh having good insight into new projects and new communities, I feel like were always open to the perfect spot if it came up. The lot came online and when we took a look at the Cedarglen floor plan, we thought it was a really good fit and well worth the move,' says Laratta. Article content Article content Spread across 832 acres, Glacier Ridge has plenty of nature to enjoy, including 10 kilometres of walking trails, along with a host of amenities. The future Residents' Association Village, which broke ground last year and is at the heart of the community, is expected to open in early 2026 and will offer a skating ribbon, tennis court and spray park, as well as a gymnasium, banquet room and gathering areas. There are also five future school sites — four elementary and middle school sites and one high school. Article content 'Glacier Ridge is a community that feels nostalgic,' says Maia Dyer marketing manager at Anthem, the developer in partnership with Ronmor Developers behind Glacier Ridge. 'It's framed by views of the foothills and distinguished by natural coulees with a historic landscape. Elevated entry landscaping flows onto tree-lined streets, leading to Glacier's nature-themed parks, encouraging residents to enjoy the outdoors.'

Cooking space impresses in Cedarglen's Acme
In cramped spaces, cooking sure isn't fun. That's especially true when multiple people are playing a role in putting the meal together. Article content Article content Use of both size and smart design can ensure dinner preparation is a positive experience for all involved. Article content It's currently displayed as a show home in CreekView. This new southwest Calgary community is located roughly 10 minutes south of the amenity-stocked Shawnessy Shopping Centre. Article content Acme's kitchen is in a grand, L-shaped orientation at the back of the main level. A benefit to this format is its extensive surface area on which to chop, peel and season. Article content Article content Toggle full screen modePrevious Gallery Image Next Gallery ImageToggle gallery captions Article content Article content A partial wall separates the central dining area from the front-facing great room. This makes the latter feel more significant. Article content Measuring 10 feet 10 inches by 14 feet four inches, the great room is a bright and welcoming gathering space. Article content Article content The distance between the dining area and kitchen is significant. As such, there's flexibility — making it possible add a second smaller table when the occasion calls for it. Article content This home also provides an answer for people who work remotely. Across from the great room is a cutout area for a desk, delivering a functional work station. Article content If no member of the family works from home, this at least supports the needs of the children of the family when working on a school assignment. Article content On the second level, the primary bedroom is positioned at the back of the floor plan and two secondary bedrooms are side-by-side up front. Article content For more sleep spaces, the show home presents a developed basement with two additional bedrooms. Article content The 13-foot one inch by 10-foot eight inch primary boasts an ensuite and walk-in closet that connect. This simplifies one's weekday morning routine. Article content The ensuite features a shower with full-height tile and a vanity with two sinks beneath a full-width mirror. There's a considerate amount of space between these sinks, letting both partners use this space at the same time without feeling cramped.
