Kern Arts Council receives $69K in grants for arts programs through Sept.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Arts Council of Kern has been awarded $69,000 in grants from the California Arts Council, to support arts programs in Bakersfield through September.
The Arts Council says the funds will go towards the following programs:
The 'Celebration of Kern Arts' — A monthly free Artwalk that will provide a platform for artists and nonprofit arts organizations.
The Kern High School Program 'Poetry OUTLOUD.'
'Arts Workshops' – which helps artists promote their work and share their talents.
Aside from state funds, the Arts Council was also awarded more than $16,000 in a Youth Development program grant. This grant adds more funding to its 'Arts 4 Rehabilitation' program aimed at incarcerated youth.
