AI mehndi to folk tales: Teej mela to blend tech, tradition

ew Delhi: Delhi govt will organise a grand Teej Mela from July 25 to 27 at Delhi Haat, Pitampura, with a focus on women empowerment, cultural heritage, and community celebration.
The three-day event will be inaugurated by chief minister Rekha Gupta.
A key attraction will be the Celebrity Night on July 26, featuring performances by popular artistes. Traditional folk dances, songs, and magic shows will run throughout the mela, offering entertainment for all age groups.
The venue will showcase vibrant decorations, including 3D entry gates, chandeliers, LED displays, and AR selfie booths.
An AI-powered mehndi design selector will let visitors choose and apply designs instantly.

More than 80 stalls will feature traditional crafts, ethnic wear, embroidery, bangles, block printing, and regional delicacies. Competitions such as mehndi, rangoli, bindi decoration, Teej Queen, Teej quiz, and slogan writing will encourage active participation from women, with prizes for winners.
A special 'Women in Green' fashion walk on July 18 will crown Miss Teej 2025.

The mela will also host interactive workshops on health, empowerment, and social awareness, along with daily storytelling sessions based on Teej folktales. Live demos of traditional arts and a dedicated Kids Zone will further enrich the experience.
