Celebrity SAS star needs surgery after ‘ripping' vulva in one of show's worst injuries
This series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win s features one of the most excruciating – and arguably worst ever – injuries in the show's history, with X Factor star Lucy Spraggan revealing she tore her vulva. Singer Lucy opened up about the agonising injury ahead of the programme's continuation this weekend, explaining that she was left bleeding with a rip so severe that she is undergoing reconstructive surgery. The 34-year-old's wound was caused by a harness during a stunt and due to the level of bleeding and intensity of the show, she recalled her 'dignity had gone' when the doctor came over to inspect her. 'I ripped my labia – it was bad,' she told The Sun. 'That's not a common injury. Actually, genuinely, that's never been the same, so much so I'm having some surgery soon to correct it.' Revealing she didn't 'really know even what happened' to cause the tear, Lucy's best guess is simply that the harness 'was tight'. 'I was like: 'This feels really bad. Surely there can't be anything.' And I looked and there was a tear, there was lots of blood and the doctor came over and I turned around because at that point you literally don't care about anything. Dignity has gone,' she added. She also explained that the medic initially thought it was her leg that was bleeding before she corrected them. Horrific as that is, it's also not the only injury the star suffered during filming for the series as she also almost knocked a tooth out, fainted and landed face-first in the sea after attempting to jump from a helicopter into a boat. This left her with a black eye for her wedding day in June 2024 and forced her to have filler from under her eye dissolved after she 'hit the sea so hard my filler migrated to the side of my face'. Previous gruesome injuries from across the show's series include Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson's breast implant becoming infected, Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks knocked himself unconscious and breaking ribs and former soap star Jennifer Ellison puncturing her spleen. Meanwhile Jake Quickenden was rushed into emergency surgery after tendons in his shoulder were 'ripped off the bone' and politician Matt Hancock infamously suffered from trench foot. The 2025 edition of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins kicked off in dramatic style this month, with two participants quitting during the opening episode. The famous faces were pushed straight into action as they were forced to plunge 26ft into the water and dash towards a speedboat to pick them up. This proved S Club star Hannah Spearritt 's undoing as, looking visibly ill ahead of the second task, she handed in her armband to the directing staff with the words: 'I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point.' Following hot on her heels was TV dancer Louie Spence, for whom the second task – to rescue three hostages from a building before blowing it up with a grenade – pushed him a step too far and he quit. More Trending In the second episode, Love Island contestants Tasha Ghouri and Chloe Burrows, also voluntarily withdrew. Remaining participants being guided through gruelling challenges by the elite team of ex-Special Forces soldiers, Chief Instructor Billy Billingham and his team of Directing Staff (DS) – Foxy (Jason Fox), Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver – include Traitors winner Harry Clark, Rebecca Loos, Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon-Boulash, former Love Islander Adam Collard and former footballer Troy Deeney. This year's series was shot in Wales, the home of the first phase of SAS selection in real life. Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues on Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4. Got a story? Celebrity SAS Who Dares Win: What do they actually win?
The Special Forces are officially back in action for another series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win as the Channel 4 reality show kicked off again last night [3 August], seeing 14 famous faces put through their paces in a series of difficult challenges. But if they make it all the way to the final episode, what do the celebs win? Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win is in it's seventh season and sees 14 celebrities pitted against each other in a series of challenges designed and executed by former SAS staff, who are on site to guide and instruct the contestants. This year the cast includes drag artist Bimini, Love Island's Tasha Ghouri and winner of The Traitors' season two Harry Clark, and the group head to Wales where in the first episode they were challenged with diving into freezing cold water and then throwing a grenade at a 'hostage filled' building. But after they've completed all the challenges, reached the end of the series and eventually win the show, what is their actual prize? Here's what we know. Well ironically for a show called 'Who Dares Win' there is no actual prize for the winners of Celebrity SAS. Unlike other reality shows featuring celebrities, there's no cash prize for a charity of their choice such as is in the upcoming Celebrity Traitors. And unlike in I'm a Me Out of Here where the winner is named King or Queen of the jungle, and receives a crown and sceptre, the winner of Celebrity SAS literally just gets told they've passed the SAS process. The one exception to this is the first series of the celebrity version which was done in collaboration with Stand Up To Cancer and was done to raise funds for the charity. However, it does seem the pride and achievement of passing selection is the prize within itself for many celebrities. Georgia Harrison, who won last year's show, said of her win in an interview with the Daily Mirror: "It made me a lot stronger and it was almost like an actual turning point in my life to really overcome all the trauma and challenge I've been through the year before. "I'm like, 'Right this is my time to come back fighting, come back stringer and move into a whole new era of my life.' I've definitely felt a shift in my energy, my vibration, my ability to handle things." Though they don't win a cash prize, the celebrities are paid for appearing in the show and over the years there's been some very large salaries. Katie Price was reportedly paid £120,000 for her appearance on the show in 2020, Matt Hancock was said to be paid £45,000 to take part in the show back in 2023 and last year, despite being in the show for less than 24 hours John Barrowman was reportedly paid £30,000. Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win continues on Channel 4

Who is Michaella McCollum in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win?
Last night saw the return of one of the most intense reality competition shows - Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win. The Channel 4 show, which is now in its seventh season, saw 14 celebrities take up the challenge of trying to pass SAS recruitment, and among them is former drug mule Michaella McCollum, who is best known for being part of the famous 'Peru Two'. During the airing of last night's episode many viewers were confused with Michaella's appearance on the show, with some arguing on social media she wasn't considered a "celebrity" and shouldn't be taking part in the show. So who is Michaella? And what has she said about her experience on the show? Here's everything to know about her. Michaella McCollum is one of half the famous 'Peru Two'. Michaella along with Melissa Reid, were apprehended at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru back in August 2013, after it had been discovered they had £1.5million worth of cocaine in their suitcases. Michaella and Melissa, who weren't originally friends, claimed they had been forced to carry the stash by armed gangsters. They ended up pleading guilty to drug smuggling and sentenced to over six years and eight months of jail time in a prison in Peru. They ended up serving three years before their release in 2016. At the time Michaella also became known for her very large hair bun which attracted a lot of media attention. Following her release in 2016, she's gone onto write a book about her experience and starred in a BBC documentary about what happened in 2013. She rebuilt her life and moved home to Northern Ireland. She now has two sons and also completed a degree in business management in 2023. Michaella has also rebranded as a travel influencer and has over 100K followers on Instagram, where she regularly posts from her many holidays abroad. Prior to the show airing, Michaella appeared on This Morning, where she spoke about her time on Celebrity SAS. She revealed it was the only reality show she wanted to do despite having had other offers in the past, she told hosts Dermot O'Leary and Olivia Attwood, she did the show for herself and not for popularity. "I did that show for myself…not to make people like me," she said. Michaella also revealed the show tested her and she found the interrogation moments particularly hard to film. "I didn't like it. It was super long. I just thought, 'one more hour,'' she explained. 'Mentally, I know it's not real, even though it feels very real…it's quite difficult, but that helped me to ease into the process.' Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win is available to catchup on Channel 4

Two stars quit Celebrity SAS in dramatic first episode
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win has already proven too much for two contestants as they dramatically withdrew within just the opening episode. S Club star Hannah Spearritt and TV dancer Louie Spence bowed out of the high-intensity reality series, which puts 14 celebrity recruits to the test as they undergo a gruelling military bootcamp. Guided through the tasks by hardened chief instructor Billy Billingham, who plunged the famed faces straight into action as they were forced to plunge 26ft into the water and dash towards a speedboat to pick them up. This proved our first celebrity's undoing as Hannah, looking visibly ill ahead of the second task, handed in her armband to the directing staff with the morose statement: 'I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point.' In the scene straight after, the show aired a pre-recorded clip of the singer who had declared she 'wouldn't go on the first day' as she 'wouldn't forgive myself'. Following hot on her heels was Louie, for whom the second task – to rescue three hostages from a building before blowing it up with a grenade – pushed him a step too far. Known for his Sky TV series, Pineapple Dance Studios, Louie reached his breaking point after detonating his grenade with two hostages still inside the building, telling the directing staff he wished to withdraw. 'I want to do an immediate withdrawal, I just don't have the conviction, and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough,' he explained. And when it was pointed out he 'hadn't even started yet', replied 'that's what I mean' before rejecting a second chance to put his armband back on. Ahead of the show, Louie was asked why he wanted to participate in the show, replying: 'I was feeling really mentally strong, and I thought it'd be a great challenge. 'So really, it was just a thing to challenge myself mentally. I've watched the show before, I've dipped in and out, and like most people, when I've watched it, you think you can do it. But it's different when you get there!' More Trending There is still a while cohort of celebrities left in the show to tackle to challenges ahead, including former model Rebecca Loos who is grilled on her alleged affair with Sir David Beckham in an interrogation about why she wants to be on the show. Elsewhere, Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon Boulash spoke about being a queer person in Norfolk, while Watford striker Troy Deeney opened up about the abuse he faced in his childhood and how it has shaped his life. Airing across eight one-hour episodes, the seventh series of Celebrity SAS can be streamed or watched live every Sunday and Monday on Channel 4, starting on August 3. Got a story? Among the line up this year is a Premier League footballer, an S Club 7 singer and a famous drug mule. Here's all the celebrities taking part in the 2025 Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win. Adebayo Akinfenwa Former football star Adebayo Akinfenwa will likely be looking to put his 'beast nickname' to the test on the show. Speaking ahead of the show, he said: "I've asked myself time and time again – am I built for the Special Forces? One of the reasons why I'm doing this is to find out. "I would like to think that, put me in most situations, most environments, I'll be able to put my best foot forward, get out of my comfort zone, hit my responsibilities and do what I need to do! I think that's what I want to get out of taking part on this course." Troy Deeney Fellow former footballer Troy Deeney is also taking part in the series. The ex-Watford striker said: "I'm at a crossroads in my life, so I'm hoping the course can highlight the good and bad in me and hopefully we'll see at the end, that the good outweighs the bad. "I'm sure the DS will get me irritated very quickly but they will also know how to nurture and to reshape and probably help me along the way." Conor Benn Conor Benn is famous for his strong punches in the ring but how will he get on in the SAS challenge? The sportsman said: "Although boxing is hard, I feel like this is going to be a completely different challenge and I always want to challenge myself. I just want to see and experience the toughness and the grittiness you need to pass this course." Tasha Ghouri Love Island and Strictly star Tasha Ghouri is set for a huge change from her daily life as she takes on the course. Speaking about the opportunity, she said: "I'm very excited to actually take on the course and just go for it, push myself and really challenge myself. "But I also want to show people that having a disability makes you no less able – we can also push ourselves, and do crazy challenges if we put our mind to it. "I really want to be able to actually walk away from the course feeling like I've accomplished what I wanted to do and I want to look back and think, wow, I did that, I'm proud of myself. "I'll be doing this for the people who have doubted me. I want prove to them that they can't bring me down. I can fight my way to the end." Louie Spence Louie Spence is a reality TV icon but how will he get on in SAS: Who Dares Win? Ahead of the series, he revealed: "This course I hope can walk away feeling I've actually really achieved something here, that I've really pushed myself to the edge of my boundaries and put myself in a position which is beyond something I could have even imagined a year ago. "This is a course that is really going to challenge me. This is different to anything I've ever been part of before. "There's no fluff, there's no glitter, there's no getting myself out of a situation with a quick bit of wit. It's really refreshing for me to do something like this…and, hopefully come out a much better person, both physically and mentally." Harry Clark Traitors winner Harry Clark has already starred on Celebrity SAS so how will he get on this time? He said: "Growing up, I'd watch people close to me be in the SAS, which always inspired me. "This show was a different experience to what I had imagined but I always love a challenge and it proves you're always learning new things about yourself." Rebecca Loos Former glamour model Rebecca Loos sees celebrity SAS as a once in a lifetime opportunity. She said: "'I honestly don't know whether I am mentally strong enough but one of the reasons I want to do this course is because I want to find out whether I'm able to stick it through mentally. "I think it's going to be really, really tough. This is by far the toughest thing I've ever done. "But I want to do this course because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to do an SAS training course. It's going to be really interesting to see how far I can go and how strong I'm able to keep myself." Hannah Spearritt Hannah Spearritt was an original member of the pop group S Club and is now better known for playing Kandice Taylor in EastEnders. Speaking to Channel 4, she said: "I hope to take out of this experience, strength. I want to feel stronger again, mentally and physically, because there's always improvement there. "There are always dips that happen along the way with motherhood or whatever but I think when you just experience different stuff, it changes you. "I have no idea what to expect, but I do know it will be an experience and it's something that I will have for life." She added: "However the experience goes, I am going to learn about myself. Maybe I'll find out I am a bit of a mess or I might find out that I'm stronger than I think I am…it's finding out things about yourself that you would never, ever find out. "We live in this world where it's so easy to live in our comfort zone, so this is an opportunity to get outside of that and…for me anyway, growth and expansion is one of the most important things, and that is something that hopefully I can pass on to my kids." Adam Collard Adam Collard is one of three Love Island starts taking part in Celebrity SAS. Speaking about how he hopes to get on, he said: "Hopefully during the course, the DS will peel back a few layers because I'm stubborn as hell. And maybe I need to be broken down to then go and sort some stuff out. "I'm doing it for the little boy who hated himself and couldn't do anything and was the last to get picked in everything. And from an emotional point of view, I'm hoping that this spits out a better person. "I love a challenge. And I really think this course is exactly what I want to really tap into my fitness, the mental strength, the resilience, and see if I've got the grit to finish and go all the way." Bimini Drag Queen Bimini Bon-Boulash is a very vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Talking about her participation in SAS, she explained: "I want to do this just to prove to myself that I'm capable of anything I put my mind to. I want to prove to myself that I can do it. "No glam, no red carpets, no magazine covers. This is literally just going to be me to my core and I am excited about it but I don't think the course is ready for Bimini. "People in the UK love to debate gender like it's a concept, not a lived experience. It gets reduced to headlines and toilet talk. I'm doing this to remind them that behind every opinion is a human being. "The course, the SAS and the Army have got a very masculine stereotype and I've got both elements of masculine and feminine and that's my superpower. Vulnerable, raw, and stronger than ever." Michaella McCollum Michaella was first brought into the public eye for being a drug mule, but now as an author she has a further point to prove about herself. Speaking ahead of the show, she said: "The level of resilience I learned from being in prison in Peru and knowing how important that mindset is, will definitely help get me through the course, so I'm going to need to use my mental strength to help me along the way. "In Peru, I was completely stripped back to the rawest version of myself…and I know in this course, it will have a similar effect. "I will get to see the real me again and I want to challenge myself to see how capable I am. I don't know if I'm physically fit enough to complete the course but I have good mental strength." Lucy Spraggan X Factor star is used to smashing it on stage, but how will she fare on the course? She said: "I hope I have the mental grit to get to the end of the course. "I have been through quite a lot in my life, and I've done a lot of work to navigate what that left behind, and I really hope that I can apply it to the course, and make it all the way to the end. "I've always wanted to do this course, and what I love about this course is the sheer pressure it puts on a human being, that you will just not get anywhere else in life. "And I've had pressure, I've had so many forms of pressure, nothing like this, so I really just genuinely want to see how far my brain can go." Chloe Burrows Chloe Burrows is the third Love Islander to be participating in the show. Discussing the challenges ahead of her on Celebrity SAS, she said: "On SAS: Who Dares Wins, everything is completely stripped back. You have absolutely nothing. "And I want the course to kind of remind me of that, because I've got a bit lost in myself and the industry. I want to feel a little bit grounded. I want to get a sense of it. "I want to push myself, and I want to get a sense of achievement. I want to feel proud of myself for whatever I put into it. 'I think the course is going to give me a bit of confidence. If I even achieve half of the course, then I can walk out and be like, yeah, guess what? "I did that on my own. No makeup, no hot shower. I'm very capable…I would love to come out and just feel really pleased with myself and really confident in myself." Lady Leshurr British rapper Lady Leshurr is another celebrity who is hoping the course is going to change her. Speaking to Channel 4, she said: "Ithink this course is not only going to make me become the best version of myself, but it's going to make me the strongest I've ever been. It's going to make me realise so much about myself that I've kept in. "It's going to push, motivate and inspire me. It's really going to make or break me. But regardless, it's going to teach me a lesson about myself that I can definitely work on."
