KUCHING (Aug 15): The Centre for Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Dalat is expected to commence operations next month.
State Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the construction of the permanent campus is now 98 per cent complete.
She noted that students currently placed at Centexs Mukah will be relocated to the new Dalat campus once it becomes operational.
'This campus is equipped with various facilities, including male and female hostels, a language centre, digital classrooms, electrical rooms, fashion facilities, a welding block, and a specialised course in fibreglass boat building, a unique offering not available at other Centexs campuses,' she said after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Satria Pertiwi Complex here today.
Fatimah also announced that the official opening ceremony of Centexs Dalat will be officiated by Abang Johari this October.
In conjunction with the launch, the Premier will also officiate the 25th edition of Pesta Besaug, a biennial festival that remains a major attraction for the local community.
The festival will feature 'bidar' (longboat) races, evening cultural activities, and trade activities.
During the meeting, Fatimah also sought the Premier's advice on the proposed development of the Dalat Boutique Hotel, a project which has received the state government's approval.
She confirmed that the Sarawak government will finance the construction of the hotel, while operational management will be undertaken by the private sector. Centexs Dalat fatimah abdullah
