Exhibition on Telugu freedom fighters opens at Salar Jung Museum
A photo exhibition celebrating prominent Telugu freedom fighters and the evolution of the Indian National Flag was inaugurated at the Salar Jung Museum on Thursday. Organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event forms part of its Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme. Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament V. Vijayendra Prasad and University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. Jagadeeshwar Rao jointly inaugurated the exhibition, which features around 40 panels on the lives and struggles of unsung heroes such as Turrebaz Khan, Moulvi Allauddin, Kaloji Narayana Rao, Sangam Laxmi Bayamma, Kumram Bheem and Suddala Hanumanthu. Mr. Prasad described the display as a rare collection that should be widely shared with the younger generation. He emphasised that the Indian flag is a symbol of the nation's self-respect and pride, and that every citizen should uphold these values. Mr. Rao noted that such initiatives preserve history and instil patriotism. As part of the event, CBC Hyderabad also held essay and Telugu poetry competitions on patriotic themes, with winners from five city colleges receiving prizes and certificates from the dignitaries. CBC Additional Director General Shruti Patil said the exhibition is aimed to connect today's youth with the sacrifices and bravery of their forebears. The exhibition will remain open to the public till August 17, 2025.

Shillong hosts awareness event ahead of Int'l Day of Yoga
Shillong: In the run-up to the to be observed on June 21, the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong, under the Union ministry of information and broadcasting, organised a yoga awareness programme in collaboration with the Meghalaya Yog Samiti at the Laitumkhrah Assamese Secondary School here on Monday to promote the benefits of yoga and holistic well-being among students and the school community, reports Manosh Das. Mock drill scheduled for tomorrow in Gujarat, Rajasthan and other border states postponed, new dates to be announced
Mock drill postponed: Gujarat, Rajasthan and other states on Wednesday postponed the Civil Defence Exercise 'Operation Shield', which was scheduled to be held on Thursday, due to administrative reasons. The Central government had planned to carry out a civil defence exercise 'Operation Shield' in all districts of states and Union territories adjoining the western border — Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Chandigarh. However, scheduled mock drill has now been postponed. In a post on X, the Central Bureau of Communication, Chandigarh, said that as per the Govt of India directions, the Civil Defence Exercise 'Operation Shield' scheduled for 29.05.2025 stands postponed. 'No blackout or mock drill will be held tomorrow. Inconvenience is regretted,' reads the post. Gujarat and Rajasthan also stated that the exercise which was planned to be held on May 29, is postponed due to administrative reasons. 'It is requested that necessary directions to all the Controllers of Civil Defence and other stakeholders, may be issued accordingly,' reported ANI quoting Gujarat Information Department. Earlier on Wednesday, a notice issued by Tina Dabi, District Collector of Barmer stated that a mock drill would be conducted in four border districts of Rajasthan Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar and Bikaner on May 29. Meanwhile, the Punjab government has proposed June 3 as the date for carrying out a civil defence exercise. "Stakeholders from local administration and youth volunteers like NCC, NSS, NYKS, Bharat Scouts & Guides, to man different services and assist the civil administration in the implementation of various civil defence measures like air raids from enemy aircraft, drones and missile attacks," the official communication had said. Earlier, on May 7, as per the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a civil defence exercise (Civil Defence Mock Drill) was conducted to check and evaluate the security arrangements of the citizens living in sensitive areas of the country. Whereas, to avenge the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalagam in which 26 people were killed, Operation Sindoor was carried out by India on May 7 through which the defence forces targeted terror camps at nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

CBC Shillong promotes ‘green living' among school pupils
1 2 Shillong: As part of its ongoing public outreach initiatives, the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong, under the Union ministry of information & broadcasting, organised a special awareness programme on 'green living' at Kyntiew Shaphrang Higher Secondary School, Laitlyngkot, on Friday. The event was conducted under the themes of 'Swachhata Hi Seva', 'Poshan Abhiyan', and 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', with the goal of fostering environmental consciousness, nutritional health and civic responsibility among students and the community. "The programme was a part of CBC Shillong's continuous campaign to strengthen grassroots-level awareness and citizen participation through information, education, and communication activities," said Gopajit Das, assistant director, CBC Shillong. He urged students to be "ambassadors of cleanliness, health, and sustainable practices". L Jaba, medical officer and in-charge Laitlyngkot PHC, explained the spiritual and environmental essence of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative.
