Patna: First cut-off list for admission to the 28 postgraduate programmes in Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) will be released on Wednesday. The online registration for counselling and admissions in 2025-26 session had ended on June 2 itself. If the seats remain vacant after the end of admissions from the first cut-off list, the second cut-off list will be released on June 20. Subsequently, if some seats are still left vacant after the admissions from the second cut-off list, the third cut-off list will be announced on June 27. The final list of admitted students for the academic year 2025-26 will be published on the university's website on July 8. The classes of newly admitted PG students will commence from July 14, he said. There are altogether 1,208 sanctioned seats in all the 28 PG programmes, including data science and applied statistics, artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, bioinformatics, environmental science, life science, geology, geography, mathematics, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, physics, chemistry, statistics, commerce, journalism and mass communications, psychology, sociology, social work, economics, political science and international relations, history, English, Hindi, education, law and physical education. The university will also admit students to one-year PG diploma course in yoga. Mahatma Gandhi Central University, another central university in Bihar, is likely to declare its first cut-off list for PG admission next week. The online registration for admission in 19 postgraduate programmes of the university ended on Tuesday. An official of MGCU said the university will admit altogether 644 students in its 19 PG programmes, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, botany, zoology, biotechnology, journalism and mass communications, library and information science, business administration, commerce, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, political science, sociology, economics, Gandhian and peace studies, social work and education. There are 33 seats in each of these programmes except in MBA (50 seats), she said.

1 2 3 Patna: Following the publication of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) (PG) results by National Testing Agency, the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has started online registration for admission to its 28 postgraduate programmes in 2025-26 session. The last date of online registration on the university's website is June 2. The university's public relations officer Mohd Mudassir Alam said that all the candidates who for CUSB in CUET (PG) may register themselves without any consideration of the cut-off marks for courses, including data science and applied statistics, artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, bioinformatics, environmental science, life science, geology, geography, mathematics, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, physics, chemistry, statistics, commerce, journalism and mass communications, psychology, sociology, social work, economics, political science and international relations, history, English, Hindi, education, law and physical education. The university will also admit students to one-year PG diploma course in yoga. This year, the university has increased the intake of LLM (one-year) programme to 50 seats from earlier 38. The university's deputy registrar Kumar Kaushal said that interested candidates can participate in the counselling process till June 2 by paying a registration fee (non-refundable) of Rs 500 for each programme (Rs 200 for SC/ST/PWD category candidates). "Programme-wise merit list for admission will be prepared only from among those candidates who register themselves for admission within the prescribed time. Only the candidates registered on the CUSB portal will be provided counselling and admission opportunity," he said. The first cut-off list will be declared on June 11, following which the selected candidates can submit the admission fee by June 15. If seats remain vacant, the second cut-off list will be released on June 20, and subsequently the third cut-off list will be announced on June 27. The final list of admitted students for the academic year 2025-26 will be published on the university's website on July 8. The classes of newly admitted PG students will commence from July 14.

1 2 Patna: Union minister of state for environment, forest and climate change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, on Friday said the country would have to focus on the farming sector if it has to achieve the goal of " viksit Bharat ' (developed India) by 2047. Inaugurating an integrated faring system and animal farm at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in Gaya, the minister said since a large portion of India's economy was dependent on agriculture, the role of agro-based industries is quite significant in meeting the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Active involvement of farmers and others associated with agriculture us necessary for the fulfilment of th SDGs, he said. He added that higher education institutions can play an important role in this mission by educating the farmers to adopt innovative practices in agriculture. He appreciated the fact that the CUSB agricultural department is already following innovative practices for maximising the yield on its sprawling campus causing minimum damage to the environment. Such techniques should be brought out of the university's boundaries to the nearby villages. Kameshwar Nath Singh, CUSB vice-chancellor, outlined the university's efforts for creating a fully eco-friendly campus with zero water discharge, solar-powered street lights and development of a green belt with 10,000 plants.

1 2 Patna: As many as 29 students from different departments of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) got job offers from the Azim Premji Foundation in a placement drive conducted at the campus in Gaya PRO-cum-placement coordinator Mudassir Alam said 87 students appeared at the interview of which 29 final-year postgraduate students were shortlisted for the jobs. "The job for the position of assistant research associate was offered at the initial package of Rs 4.56 lakh per annum along with additional benefits of medical assistance, relocation expense, interest-free loan, group insurance, etc," he political science department students got the maximum job offers of seven followed by the mathematics department (four). Besides students from the departments of Hindi, English, psychology, biotechnology, economics, geography, geology, history and social work also got job offers from the the students for their placements, CUSB vice-chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh said it is a matter of joy for us and it would encourage the junior students considerably.

Patna: As part of the 'Lab to Land' programme of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), a team of scholars from the earth science department of geology led by its head, Prafull Singh, made a study of the dynamics of historically famous Falgu river (also known as the ) in Bodh Gaya. The primary aim of the study was to collect field data to ascertain the of this river basin and suggest ways for its rejuvenation. The Falgu river, which holds great religious significance for both, — Hindus and Buddhists, faces acute shortage of water round the year (except during monsoons).The geologists' team evaluated the geological and hydrological factors that influence the flow of the basin and groundwater movement. They tried to understand how climate change and agricultural practices are impacting the river flow and groundwater availability in the basin so that they would formulate a strategy. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Members of the study team also engaged with the residents across the catchments area to gain an insight into the local water usage pattern and groundwater from the survey highlighted the urgent need for increased community involvement and awareness to promote judicious groundwater use. They also suggested restoration of dried-up wells and protection of main water-bearing formations and structures. These efforts are vital for achieving long-term water sustainability and preserving the ecological health of the river system, said team leader to CUSB's public relations officer Md Mudassir Alam, Niranjana River Recharge Mission convener Sanjay Sajjan, project associate Kamal Nayan, Nawadih panchayat head Basanti Panna and social workers Raj Kumar and Ravindra Kumar Ravi also lent their support to the team.
