Walk for Animals raises 88K for Central Vermont Humane

Our Forever Home series took us to Montpelier over the weekend to attend and be part of Central Vermont Humane Society's 'Walk for Animals'. We're taking you through the sights, sounds, and 'floofiness' of what was a record breaking day for CVHS! The 'Walk for Animals' event began early Saturday morning under a veil of doomy and gloomy conditions. However, SkyTracker Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko, serving as Master of Ceremonies, would not let it rain on the CVHS parade. The actual mile long stroll around downtown Montpelier was just one of the fun activities set up for the day. There were also nearly twenty vendors and sponsors set up on the Statehouse front lawn. They were giving away free swag, prizes, and even had raffles to enter. Outside of the sponsorship tents, like-minded animal advocates were mingling and showing off their adorable doggos. Some of the top highlights of the fundraiser included the dog trick contest, the dog costume contest, and the announcing of awards at the end of the walk. The top sponsor, kid, and adult fundraisers were given plaques for their achievements and accomplishments. When all was said and done, 'Walk for Animals' broke their all-time fundraising record by tallying over $88,000. That blew their original $80,000 goal out of the water. WOW! A huge thanks to the outside donators and 'Walk for Animals' participants for helping raise a tremendous amount of money for animals in need across the communities the Central Vermont Humane Society serves. Exciting ‘Forever Home' announcement revealed!

We're so honored and pleased to announce that our very own SkyTracker Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko will be the Central Vermont Humane Society's Emcee for their biggest fundraiser of the year, 'Walk for Animals'. 'Walk for Animals' is slated for June 7th and it starts at 9:30 AM on the front lawn of the State House. You will be able to enjoy a walk around downtown Montpelier with other like-minded animal advocates/lovers. This is a free event that is open to the public, but you must register to join the fun. Along with the walk, there will be kids activities, various vendors, free refreshments, a pet costume contest, a trick competition, and much more. Also, back by popular demand will be the opportunity to get a professional dog headshot taken by Paul Richardson. For much more information and how to register, please be sure to visit the Central Vermont Humane Society's website. Along with the 'Walk for Animals' event coming up on June 7th, we also wanted to highlight some happenings with our friends at Queen City Cats in Burlington, Vermont. Their partners at the Queen City Cat Lounge will be hosting a guided meditation class on Wednesday this week. The Lounge describe the event by saying, 'Purr-epare to go deep into a meditative state while doing slow, gentle movements. Karen Waters (owner of Nourishing Touch) will demonstrate and repeat Qigong meditative movements along to verbal imagery and calming music. Expect to feel relaxed, restored, energized, and more connected to yourself and others.' For more information and to book your spot, you can visit the Queen City Cat Lounge website. Gorgeous Garland is searching for a home all her own

Happy Forever Home Tuesday, friends! We took a quick trip over to East Montpelier, Vermont for this week's newest Forever Home episode. We met up with Sara from the Central Vermont Humane Society, and that's where she introduced us to a gorgeous gal who has been at the shelter since just before Christmas. Cuddly girl, Garland is more than ready for her Forever Home and endless amounts of snuggles. Garland is a gorgeous 5 year old girl who loves to be right by the side of her humans. She is a very healthy, lean dog who walks really well on a leash. In fact, she has really honed her leash walking skills lately and CVHS wants to make sure that continues through Garland's transition to her new Forever Home. That's why Garland's adoption also comes with a good behavior training to ensure she's on the right track. From personal experience, we think Garland is very well behaved and a fun-loving girl. Garland is the kind of dog that will greet you after a long day at work with some full body wiggles and tail whips just to know how happy she is to see you. Her puppy dog eyes will melt your heart before she curls up next to you with her super soft coat. Garland is a healthy girl and has no dietary restrictions. The reason CVHS thinks she has been at the shelter for so long is because she needs to be the only pet in the house. Otherwise, Garland would make a great first dog for any family. She is such a sweetheart. If you're interested in finding out more about Garland or you're wanting to send in an adoption application before she gets snagged up, then you can head on over to the Central Vermont Humane Society's website. Let's find Garland that home she has been wanting since Christmas morning. Share her story and give her the visibility she needs to land in a fantastic, loving, new Forever Home.
