Agadir Cyclists Dominate Throne Cup Road Race in Azilal
Rabat — More than 140 cyclists from 37 sporting clubs across Morocco competed in Saturday's Throne Cup road cycling championship in Azilal.
The event celebrated the 26th anniversary of the Throne Day.
Kamal Mahroug from Agadir Vélo VTT won the men's senior race, while Salma Hariri from Majd Serghini claimed victory in the women's division.
Both riders crossed the finish line after completing multiple laps on a closed 3.7-kilometer circuit.
Agadir club takes all men's podium spots
Agadir Vélo VTT riders swept the men's senior podium completely. Mahroug led his teammates Brahim Sabahi and Idriss Alouani to a remarkable one-two-three finish for their club.
In the women's race, Hariri successfully defended her title from last year. She finished ahead of Fatima Zahra El Hayyane from Chabab Inzegane and Ikram Benjelouaja from Agadir Vélo VTT, who took second and third place, respectively.
Junior categories see new champions
The junior men's competition crowned Yassine Mhah from Tihad Sportif Casablancais as champion.
Moroccan champion Marouane Kharbouchi from Abtal Marrakech finished second, while Abderrahim Alouani from Ismailia Meknes took third place.
Imane Lemkhyer from Chabab Souk Sebt won the junior women's title. She beat defending Moroccan champion Amina Cherdoudi from Ajial Demnat and Maroua El Habachi from Chabab Rhamna.
The championship brought together cyclists from across Morocco's regions, reflecting the country's growing cycling talent at both senior and junior levels.
