Congress, CPI urge youth to save Constitution
Hyderabad: The Congress, AIMIM and the CPI celebrated the 79th Independence Day on Friday, with TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and CPI national committee member Chada Venkat Reddy urging the youth to save the Constitution and democracy, and to prevent the BJP from misusing the Election Commission of India (ECI) for electoral gains.
At Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Goud said freedom was achieved through the sacrifices of several leaders. However, he alleged that the BJP govt at the Centre was destroying the country with divisive and hatred politics.
At the CPI office, Chada Venkat Reddy highlighted the left party's role in protecting the rights of the poor. He reiterated party's commitment to prevent communal forces from destroying the Constitution.

Meanwhile, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi hoisted the national flag at various places in the city, including the Girls Madrasa in Moghulpura.
In Suryapet, irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress govt was committed to ensure food security, providing housing to the needy, and driving inclusive growth so that every citizen has the opportunity to live with dignity and progress.
