Pakistan's Ogdcl Announces New Oil Discovery in Sindh
Pakistan's state-run energy giant, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), has announced a fresh oil discovery in the southeastern province of Sindh.
According to , the breakthrough was made at the Chakar–1 exploratory well, located within the Tando Allah Yar (TAY) exploration licence area. OGDCL stated that initial testing revealed a flow rate of 275 barrels of oil per day.
A second drill stem test (DST) is currently underway to evaluate the well's full hydrocarbon marks the 13th discovery within the TAY block and highlights the continued success of the joint venture's exploration efforts in the region.
'The results so far confirm the geological promise of the block and further strengthen our confidence in its resource potential,' OGDCL said in an official statement.
The discovery comes at a crucial time for Pakistan, as the country seeks to expand its domestic energy production and reduce its reliance on imported oil and gas.
Further exploration and appraisal activities are expected to follow.
