Tired of too many ads? go ad free now To understand her better, I didn't rely only on the script. I read historical texts, folk stories, scholarly articles, and even watched regional documentaries to get a sense of how she might have carried herself. Interestingly, my phone now only recommends content related to Prithviraj and stories from that era, I've done that much research. What stood out to me was her quiet strength. She may not have been on the battlefield, but her role was just as important. As a mother myself, I related to the emotional weight she must have carried and the strength it would have taken to stay composed during difficult times. It's a big responsibility to bring her story to life, and I've tried to make sure every gesture and moment reflects her journey as truthfully as possible. Urva Savaliya on essaying the role of Young Prithviraj in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan; says 'I feel Like a real Prince on set'
Television's upcoming show, Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan is all set to bring alive the legendary tale of one of history's bravest kings. The show will trace the extraordinary journey of Prithviraj Chauhan , from a young, innocent prince to one of India's most iconic warrior kings. Stepping into the role of young Prithviraj is Urva Savaliya , who brings with him innocence, grit, and an earnest commitment to portraying the young ruler with authenticity. In this exclusive interview, Urva talks about his preparation for the role, the excitement of working on such a grand show, and how he connected with the character of young Prithviraj . Excerpts from the interview: How did it feel when you first found out you'd be playing young Prithviraj? At first, I couldn't believe it. I have heard stories of Prithviraj Chauhan—how brave and wise a king he was, even when he was just a boy, He fought fearlessly to protect his kingdom and stood up for what was right. And when I was told that I would be playing such a legendary person and his journey of the making of a child king, it really felt like a dream come true. It's a big responsibility to play someone who's not just in history books, but also in people's hearts. My whole family was so happy and proud—they've always told me to do my best, and this role really means a lot to all of us. What kind of preparation did you go through to step into such a historic and powerful character? I watched some old videos and read short stories about Prithviraj to understand what kind of person he was. My acting coach helped me understand how a young warrior prince would talk, walk, and behave. I also did undertake training for horse riding and sword fighting, which was super fun. The team also helped me sharpen my delivery—now I speak with the elegance of royalty and the boldness of a true warrior. Was there anything you learned about Prithviraj that really surprised or inspired you during your prep? I was really amazed to learn how brave and fearless Prithviraj Chauhan was, even as a kid! He was always curious and eager to learn new things—just like how I am. That really inspired me, because I love trying new challenges and picking up new skills. I also admire how respectful he was to his parents and teachers. That really inspired me and made me want to bring that same respect into my life and my career What is the most challenging part about portraying a young warrior king? The most difficult part for me is to look serious and be strong during the action scenes. Sometimes I do feel nervous, but then I remind myself that I'm playing legendary king Prithviraj Chauhan, so I must feel confident and fearless. Also, delivering these long dialogues in the royal dialect is a bit tricky sometimes, but I like it because I enjoy learning new things and it makes me feel proud of my culture." How did you connect with Prithviraj as a young character? Are there any specific qualities or traits you found relatable? Yes! Like Prithviraj, I also love spending time outdoors and learning new skills. He was curious and loved his family a lot—just like me. He always wanted to do the right thing, and I try to do that too, even in school or with my friends. The show has a grand scale—elaborate sets, costumes, and action. How does it feel to be part of something so grand? Coming from the house of Contiloe, you know the show would be amazing, especially from the creative mind of Abhimanyu Singh, the show is sure to be at a top-notch scale. Every time I step onto the set, I feel like I've gone back in time. The forts, palaces, and costumes are so beautiful. I feel like a real prince! It's like living inside a storybook. Sony Entertainment and Contiloe pictures are the best collaborators to create a historic drama. How has your experience been working with the rest of the cast and crew? Can you share any memorable moments? The cast and crew are all really nice and helpful. My co-actors have been teaching me so much about acting, and the director sir explains everything so well, it's truly fun working with them. Anuja Sathe ma'am, who plays my mother on the show, treats me like a son off-screen as well. She brings home-cooked food for me and always makes sure I'm taken care of. Ronit Roy sir, gives such warm, fatherly feelings, he's always so caring and supportive. Being on set feels like being at home. It's like my second home now. I've made so many beautiful memories here, like the time we all played a game after a long shoot day. I'll never forget that. Everyone helps me with my scenes and cheers me on when I get it right. The best part is that I have learnt so much from the production team – Contiloe pictures as they were able to guide me at every step of the way. What does playing the young Prithviraj mean to you personally, and how do you hope the audience connects with the character? For me, it's a big honor. I feel proud to represent someone who was one of the bravest kings in history and his story of his making of a child king is quite inspiring. I hope people, especially kids like me, see that even young people can be strong and make a difference and feel inspired. I want them to enjoy the story and learn from it too. The bond between Prithviraj and his father plays an important role in shaping him. What was it like exploring that relationship on screen? It's a very special bond. Prithviraj really looked up to his father and wanted to make him proud. His father taught him a lot about being a good king and a good person. Even though Prithviraj was a great warrior, he always listened to his father's advice, which is something I think is important in life. The culture and art of Rajasthan play an important role in the story. How do you feel about representing Rajasthan's rich culture in the show? I'm really proud to be a part of this because Rajasthan has such a beautiful culture and history. The music, the art, and the traditions are so colorful and special. It's an honor to be able to represent Rajasthan in the show, and I hope the audience gets to see how amazing the culture is through the story of Prithviraj.
