Child held at gunpoint during robbery at Chambersburg house party, police say
Two men are jailed without bail in Franklin County following an armed robbery in which they allegedly held a child at gunpoint in his bedroom and stole a video game console, according to Chambersburg police. Diogenes Torres, 22, and Miguel Angel Torres, 19, both of whom have Fayetteville mailing addresses, have their preliminary hearings scheduled on May 6 at the Franklin County Judicial Center, according to court records. Diogenes Torres is charged with two counts each of armed robbery − threatening immediate serious injury, terroristic threats and simple assault, and one count of recklessly endangering another person, while Miguel Torres faces one count of armed robbery and one count conspiracy. Multiple shots were fired during the incident shortly before 2 a.m. April 27 during a party at a home on Brumbaugh Avenue, police wrote in the charging documents for Diogenes Torres. One shot was also fired in the bedroom. The home was equipped with security cameras, and police watched video that showed two males walk into the child's room. Diogenes Torres could be seen firing two rounds into the ceiling before walking back out, police said. A female at the house told police she confronted one of the men in a different room, and he responded by grabbing her by the neck and forcing her down to a bed while holding a gun to her head, according to court documents.
