Predictions: Where the top five uncommitted RBs will land
Editor's Note: This article first appeared on the leader in college football and basketball recruiting coverage. Be the first to know and follow your teams by signing up here. The big visit month of June is coming up so before all of that happens, Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney takes a look at the top five uncommitted prospects at each position. We move to running backs. The five-star all-purpose back just returned from an excellent visit to Auburn as the Tigers are trying to push even higher in his recruitment. The Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna standout heads to Miami this weekend and then goes to Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. Texas is working on getting a trip as well after a strong visit to Austin recently. An argument could be made in numerous ways here as former Chaminade Madonna standout Jeremiah Smith is starring with the Buckeyes, he continues to show significant interest in Georgia and Miami is going to do everything possible to keep him home. It seems like the Hurricanes have a slight edge heading through this month. Prediction: Miami It would be an absolute shocker if the four-star running back from Jackson, Ala., does not commit to Alabama on his June 26 commitment date. Texas has worked hard to stay involved with Crowell. Auburn keeps working on him and his teammate four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth. Georgia is also in the picture. But the Crimson Tide have led for a long time here and that has not seemed to change in recent weeks. Crowell reclassified from 2027 to 2026 and Alabama has always led. That should remain the same heading into his decision. Prediction: Alabama Texas remains the front-runner in Edwards' recruitment but things have gotten much more interesting for the four-star running back from Carthage, Texas, in recent weeks. Edwards replaced two seemingly throw-away visits to Baylor and SMU (he was never going to either of those programs) with Alabama and LSU. Texas A&M is still battling for the East Texas standout but his relationship with new Texas running backs coach Chad Scott is growing all the time and the Longhorns remain the team to beat – maybe by a wide margin. Prediction: Texas There is a little opaqueness in Hiter's recruitment as Michigan had been the front-runner for a long time and it looked like things were heading in that direction with Georgia very much involved with the four-star from Mineral (Va.) Louisa County. Tennessee is now surging in this recruitment and while the Volunteers might not be the clear front-runner things are definitely trending in that direction. Ohio State is getting more in the mix as well so things could keep changing. But Tennessee is starting to take a lead in his recruitment, overtaking Michigan and others. Prediction: Tennessee Auburn and Florida State are making this interesting and Clemson seems to be surging a little bit for the Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County standout, but it would still be a shocker if Lamar doesn't end up at Georgia. The Bulldogs have made him a priority for the longest time. Georgia position coach Josh Crawford used to coach at Colquitt County and the SEC power has the edge in his recruitment. Clemson could make this super interesting especially since he's visiting there this weekend. Florida State is less than 90 minutes away with former teammate Landen Thomas there. But the Bulldogs are the favorite. Prediction: Georgia

SEC, ACC programs still hot after Auburn WR commitment Denairius Gray
John Garcia, Jr. More than 16 months have come and gone since Denairius Gray came off the board with an early commitment to Auburn football. The Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna standout wide receiver has continued to collect scholarship offers and increased interest from several other programs since, but the messaging coming from The Plains remains the same. Advertisement "It's the same thing, they stay showing love," Gray told Rivals. "They're getting receivers, they're working over there. It's the same message that got me committed. "They just reinforce it." Fellow South Florida native and AU wide receivers coach Marcus Davis has led the Tiger charge for Gray from the beginning. He remains a key factor in how long and steady the four-star has been with the program. "Me and Coach Davis are locked in," he said. "We've got a real good relationship. We talk all the time, real often." Still, Gray contends that a handful of programs remain in steady communication with him. Washington hosted him for an official visit in late April while Ole Miss and NC State are also likely to get him on campus. Advertisement The only date Gray mentioned, however, is a return to Auburn the weekend of June 13. While a full summer schedule still appears to be determined, the top 100 prospect wrapped up his final spring season at state power CMHS, looking to defend yet another state title in 2025. Advertisement "Being here makes me a better player and person," Gray said. "Even in the classroom, for sure. My catching, route-running and technique has gotten better. "The little things really matter here." Marcus Benjamin contributed to this report.

Chaminade-Madonna baseball celebrates district title with another walk-off thriller
As Yogi Berra famously said: 'It's déjà vu all over again.' If Chaminade-Madonna shortstop John Bishop is unfamiliar with the phrase attributed to the baseball legend, the senior will surely understand it now. On Thursday night, Bishop delivered yet another walk-off hit in extra innings, chopping an RBI single into right field that lifted the Lions to a 1-0 win over NSU University School in the District 14-2A championship game at NSU. No stranger to long games, the Lions' claimed the district crown by winning two extra-inning affairs. Thursday's thriller, however, lasted a mere 2-hours, 15-minutes. Compare that to Tuesday when Chaminade outlasted Hialeah Educational Academy, 2-1, in 17 innings. That marathon started at 3:30 p.m. and ended roughly five hours later with a Bishop walk-off double. The Lions (23-3) were the top seed, and Thursday's contest lived up to the billing against No. 2 seeded U-School (23-4). Both schools will advance to the best-of-three regionals, with the seedings and matchups scheduled to be released on Friday. There's a good chance both schools will host in the regional quarterfinals. Cardinal Newman is expected to be the top seed, and Chaminade would appear to be the No. 2 seed. But that's to be determined. The way the Lions are rolling, they're ready to take on anyone. 'This team was built on picking [players] until you make it,' Chaminade coach Mark McCoy said. 'Now, we're starting to make it. We've now beaten all the top teams in our region. We beat Newman. We beat St. John Paul. We beat these guys. So, I mean, we've got to feel invincible going into the playoffs. We control our own destiny.' Chaminade's winning rally came with two outs in the eighth. Josh Andel, on a 2-2 pitch, bounced a high grounder into right field, just out of the reach of second baseman Isaac Rosa. Miguel Roa worked the count full and drew a walk, putting runners on first and second for Bishop. Bishop attacked the first pitch, and chopped the ball into right field. Andel rounded third and slid home with the lone run of the game. Both teams had their chances prior to extra innings, but neither could push across a run. U-School started the game with Bradyn Potter doubling on the first pitch of the game off Chaminade right-hander Santi Arismendi, who worked four innings. The Lions had a shot in the sixth inning when Trace Zalman singled up the middle, but Potter made a perfect throw to the plate, and catcher Griffin Pomper applied the tag on pinch-runner Nolan Loonam, who was out on a bang-bang play. The Sharks had a golden chance in the fifth inning off reliever Manny Delaosa, who loaded the bases with one out. Gage Agate inherited the jam but retired Pomper and Rocco Rovetto to keep the game scoreless. Sharks starter Aiden Jacobs impressed in 5 2/3 scoreless innings. Manuel relieved in the sixth and kept the Lions off the board. Chaminade's pitching was sensational in the two-game district, giving up one run in 25 innings. 'We play our game,' McCoy said. 'We don't worry about anybody else. We worry about what we do and we're going to win.'

Chaminade's Donta Simpson is the Broward 4A-1A Football Defensive Player of the Year
Donta Simpson only got to play seven games as a senior for Chaminade-Madonna, but when he was on the field, he might have been the most dominant interior force in the state. It's why the 6-foot-3, 281-pound defensive tackle is the Miami Herald's Broward County Defensive Player of the Year for Classes 4A-1A. Simpson missed more than a month before finally getting back on the field for the Lions in the Class 1A semifinals and then helped Chaminade-Madonna roll to back-to-back blowout wins for a fourth straight state title. In the Lions' 42-7 rout of Clearwater Central Catholic in the 1A championship last month, Simpson had seven tackles and a tackle for loss. He finished his final season in Hollywood with 45 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, six sacks, one safety and one blocked kick in only seven games. Simpson, who won't even turn 18 until the summer, is staying close to home to play at Miami after he finally caught the Hurricanes' attention last year and decided to flip his commitment from Maryland to Miami. 'Luckily, he flipped to us,' Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal said. Despite the limited production due to a hip injury, Simpson was at his best in the biggest moments, including the state title game. He had three tackles for loss in Chaminade-Madonna's shocking early-season loss to Blanche Ely, recorded a pair of sacks and two tackles for loss when the Lions bounced back against Plantation American Heritage the next week, and had three sacks and three tackles for loss in a rout of Norland a few weeks later. Although only a three-star defensive lineman in the 247Sports composite rankings for the Class of 2025, Simpson was the defensive anchor—and biggest difference-maker—for one of the best programs in the country. Above all else, he's a winner, who played an important role in three state championships for Chaminade-Madonna. Coach Dameon Jones has coached his fair share of high school stars and future NFL players, and had high praise for Simpson: 'The best trench player in the state.'
