Glasgow dream for 'new museum' one step closer for community champions

A community-led board has been established, explains Louise Nolan of Make It Glasgow, a driving force behind the ambitious project. 'The plan is to have it open by 2029, so there is a long way to go but it's really exciting to have the board in place,' she says. As the Glasgow Times, in association with Vertu and supported by Glasgow City Council and Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust, launches the 2025 awards, Louise says winning in 2024 was a fantastic boost. 'It has been a whirlwind of a year for us since then, the support and coverage it generated just opened so many doors for us,' she says. 'I think the awards plant the seeds in people's heads about what's really possible in this city." Louise adds: 'To be a member of the audience hearing about all these brilliant things that people are doing, quietly just getting on with it, was really amazing.' For almost two decades, the Glasgow Times has been celebrating their achievements with our annual awards extravaganza. The Glasgow Community Champion Awards will be returning for 2025, so it's time to consider who you want us to include on the shortlist. Our popular event is a highlight on the city's calendar and this year, with a new headline partner and exciting categories across the board, it promises to be even bigger and better than before.
