Divyakant Chandrakar takes charge as DRM of Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division
Divyakant Chandrakar has assumed charge as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway, on Wednesday. He succeeds Dr. Manish Thaplyal, IRSME, who has successfully completed his tenure. Mr. Chandrakar is a graduate in Civil Engineering from NIT Raipur and belongs to the 1996 UPSC batch of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE). He began his career in Indian Railways in January 1998 as an Assistant Divisional Engineer in Solapur Division and has since held several key positions, including general administrative roles such as Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer, Central Railway. He brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong record of service. He received the prestigious Railway Board Award for developing high-speed end unloading rolled rakes, which enhanced the efficiency of transporting and unloading 260-metre-long rails from Bhilai Steel Plant, SAIL for track renewal works. He also led the design and development of special diamond crossings, which have been introduced in the Nagpur and Bhusawal Divisions. In his previous posting as Chief Engineer, Metropolitan Transport Project (MTP), Mumbai, Mr. Chandrakar played a pivotal role in several major infrastructure projects. These include the development of Kalyan and Panvel coaching terminals, as well as the planning and execution of the work of 5th and 6th lines between Mumbai CSMT and Parel, said a statement from the Southern Railway.

Debate over ‘infiltration in CG': Dy CM refutes BJP MLA's claims
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh govt is intensifying its efforts against illegal infiltration, particularly of Bangladeshi nationals, who are reportedly settling across the state. This was said by deputy chief minister & home minister Vijay Sharma during a calling attention motion of the Assembly, responding to concerns raised by BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar. Chandrakar highlighted the growing number of infiltrators, particularly in urban centres like Raipur, Bilaspur, and Durg, and in tribal-dominated areas, raising fears of 'demographic change and increased crime'. He also questioned how these individuals were acquiring official documents such as Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and ration cards, suggesting possible complicity from govt officials. Responding to the allegations, deputy chief minister Sharma refuted claims of govt connivance, stating that the police administration is taking prompt legal action against illegally residing foreign nationals. Sharma provided figures for recent arrests: Durg: Four cases registered, 11 arrests made. Raipur district: Three cases registered, six arrests made. Chandrakar pressed the deputy CM on the efficacy of existing measures, questioning how infiltrators managed to obtain legal documents and cross state borders undetected. He sought details on the detention and deportation process for those arrested. Sharma explained that the cases registered fall under the Foreigners Act, with most accused currently in jail or out on bail under strict surveillance. He said that the state is moving towards establishing 'holding centres' with a capacity of 100 individuals in Raipur, to house those awaiting deportation. Sharma assured the assembly that though lengthy, the process of deportation would certainly move forward under the current govt. Sharma confirmed that all individuals apprehended so far are Bangladeshi nationals, with no Rohingya infiltrators among them. He highlighted an instance in Raipur where a Bangladeshi national obtained an Aadhaar card, EPIC card, and ration card with the help of a local councillor, leading to action against four officials. He reiterated that stringent action would be taken against anyone found aiding those who threaten the state's demography and vitiate its systems. He also alluded to political parties obstructing voter list revision, suggesting it might be an attempt to protect vote banks, an act he vowed would not be tolerated.

Chhattisgarh deports 30 undocumented Bangladeshi immigrants
RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh on Tuesday deported 30 Bangladeshi nationals following an ongoing verification exercise in the state, with the individuals being sent back to their homeland. The undocumented Bangladeshi migrants were taken by flight to Guwahati, where they will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF), a police officer said. After initiating the necessary action and completing the process of deportation, all illegal immigrants will be sent across the border into the neighbouring country. The thirty immigrants found staying 'without valid documents' were traced from the districts of Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon and Raigarh. They were apprehended following intelligence inputs and some complaints received from local inhabitants about the foreigners staying illegally. According to a senior intelligence officer, some Bangladeshis had even procured Indian passports in Chhattisgarh, travelled to their country, and returned to the state. On Tuesday, the issue of Bangladeshi and Rohingya undocumented immigrants was raised by senior BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar in the House, claiming that their strength is consistently on the rise in different districts of the state. Chandrakar claimed that illegal immigrants are accessing the benefits of government schemes after they secured documents illegally on the basis of 'false documentation' and the official machinery failing to enforce stringent regulations.
