1 dead, 4 injured as car from wedding party falls into ditch
Varanasi: One person died, and four others were seriously injured when a car carrying a wedding party fell into a ditch near Jamdih village of Mau on Friday morning, police said.
According to reports, the group was travelling from Bansgaon in Gorakhpur to Khirikotha in the Madhuban police station area on Thursday evening.
After the wedding festivities, the guests were returning to their respective places.
One of the cars was heading towards the Gorakhpur-Varanasi four-lane road via the Madhuban-Ghosi route.
Around 6.30am, as the car approached Jamdih village, the driver dozed off and the car collided with the railing of a small bridge and fell into a ditch.
Chandramol Tripathi alias Deepu (38), from Bansgaon, died on the spot. Meanwhile, Kishan Pandey (30) from Pandey Tighra, Sandeep Prajapati (30), Madan Tiwari (18) from Bhiti, and his brother Bishu Tiwari (19) were seriously injured.
Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and sent all the injured to the community health centre by ambulance. Seeing the critical condition of the four, the doctor referred them to the district hospital.
Ghosi SO Manoj Kumar Singh said the cause of the incident is being investigated.
