Flowerbed designs needed to celebrate Channel Islands Pride
Members of the community have been invited to design a flowerbed for Channel Islands Pride 2026. The new Design a Flowerbed Competition is free to enter and open to all, Liberate said people could submit a 4.5m (14.76 ft) by 6m (19.69 ft) archway-shaped design by 24 August via an online form or would be judged anonymously, limited to one per person and the winning entry would be planted in the carpet bed by North Beach in Guernsey, it said.
'Event for everybody'
Channel Islands Pride 2026 is due to take place in Guernsey on 12 September 2026."Channel Islands Pride is truly a community event for everybody," said Ellie Jones, Liberate CEO. "Since our culture is massively underpinned by our 'roots,' we'd love to nod to that and showcase that part of our heritage to islanders and all the tourists who come along for CI Pride."Liberate said the winning entry would be replicated as faithfully as possible depending on design complexity and practical considerations.
"It's a pretty unique way to be a part of a Pride event, and we hope it encourages even more people to get involved," Ms Jones said. "They can't be too intricate, but we will do what we can."We are hoping to get overwhelmed with entries and are excited to see what people come up with."
