Gators Vs. ‘Canes: Hoops Showdown scheduled for Jacksonville
The Florida Gators are trading the swamp for the River City this fall, with a face-off against the Miami Hurricanes scheduled on neutral ground. The Jacksonville Hoops Showdown, presented by the Jacksonville Sports Foundation, is scheduled for Sunday, November 16 at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena, beginning at 7 pm. UM men's basketball team to face national champion Florida Gators in Jacksonville
The University of Miami men's basketball team, which begins a new era this season under coach Jai Lucas, renewed its rivalry with the University of Florida and will play the reigning national champions on Nov. 16 in the Jacksonville Hoops Showdown. It will be the 72nd meeting between the intrastate rivals and the first since 2019. The game, presented by the Jacksonville Sports Foundation, was announced Friday and will take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Game time and broadcast information will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the event will go on sale Sept. 24, and fans can register to receive information and be eligible for ticket presale access on Sept. 23 by registering online at The Gators hold a 47-24 advantage in the all-time series. The last matchup between the programs came on Nov. 22, 2019, with Florida earning a 78-58 victory in the semifinals of the Charleston Classic. Florida returns several key players from the championship squad, including starters Alex Condon and Reuben Chinyelu along with sixth man Thomas Haugh. The Gators also recruited high-profile transfers such as two-time All-Ivy League standout Xaivian Lee from Princeton and former five-star recruit Boogie Fland, who joined from Arkansas. Lucas takes over the Hurricanes program after the retirement of Jim Larranaga. Lucas, 36, spent the past 12 years as an assistant at Texas, Kentucky, and most recently Duke, where he was associate head coach. Miami brings in a whole new roster made up of a top-20 recruiting class and transfers including Tre Donaldson (Michigan), Malik Reneau (Indiana), Ernest Udeh Jr. (TCU), Tru Washington (New Mexico), Jordyn Kee (Georgia) and Marcus Allen (Missouri). UM will also participate in the 2025 Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational over Thanksgiving week in Kissimmee. The 16-team, three-bracket event will take place Nov. 24-28 at Walt Disney World Resort's State Farm Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Miami will compete in the Magic Bracket, which includes BYU, Dayton and Georgetown. The semifinals will be played on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, with the championship and consolation games on Friday, Nov. 28.

Xavier will host Missouri State as part of 2025-26 non-conference basketball schedule
Xavier men's basketball's non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 campaign is nearing completion after a social media report from Alex Rosinski on June 24 that the Musketeers will host Missouri State at Cintas Center on Dec. 12. Xavier now has eight non-conference games scheduled with three more to be announced soon. Advertisement Missouri State, which competes in the Missouri Valley Conference, finished 9-23 last season under first-year head coach Cuonzo Martin, who is in his second stint with the school after coaching the Bears from 2008-2011. Five of Xavier's 18 regular-season games at Cintas Center have now been revealed. There will be three more non-conference home affairs for the Musketeers this fall, plus 10 games against Big East foes. Florida basketball finalizing matchup with in-state rival Miami Hurricanes in November Florida basketball is closing in on an agreement to take on the Miami Hurricanes in Jacksonville this coming season, according to Swamp247's Graham Hall. The two programs are eyeing Sunday, Nov. 16, as the date for the neutral-court matchup between two in-state rivals. According to the report, the Gators have already agreed to a contract with the City of Jacksonville, while the 'Canes are expected to follow suit in the near future. However, Hall did not indicate a projected decision date. It will be the 70th meeting between the Sunshine State schools and the first with head coach Todd Golden at the helm of the Orange and Blue. Florida holds the edge in the all-time series, doubling up Miami at 46-23, and has won six of the last 10 meetings, including two straight. The last time the two teams met on the collegiate parquet was in the second round of the Charleston Classic held in Charleston, South Carolina, back in 2019. The Gators trounced the Hurricanes in a 78-58 beatdown on that late November afternoon. Once finalized, Miami joins the Arizona Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils and UConn Huskies on Florida's non-conference schedule, as well as the inevitable matchup with the Florida State Seminoles. There is also the Rady Children's Invitational at the end of November in which the Gators will compete against the Providence Friars, TCU Horned Frogs and Wisconsin Badgers. Xavier basketball joins Clemson, Georgia, West Virginia in 2025 Charleston Classic
The field for Xavier's multi-team event (MTE) next season has been revealed. In January, it was announced that Xavier would participate in the 17th annual 2025 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic. On Thursday, ESPN Events announced that Xavier will be in a bracket with Clemson, Georgia and West Virginia in the event, which will be held on Friday, November 21 and Sunday, November 23 at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina. In its only previous appearance in the Charleston Classic, Xavier reached the tournament's title game in 2019 after beating Towson and UConn. Travis Steele's Musketeers fell to Florida, 70-65, in the finals. On Wednesday, Xavier announced the signing of the 7-foot Colorado native, who is the 10th newcomer to the Musketeers' 2025-26 roster under first-year head coach Richard Pitino. "We are excited to welcome Kason Westphal to our basketball program. He's got the size and skill that we look for at the center position. Kason's best basketball is ahead of him. We can't wait to work with him," Pitino said in a statement.
