Kentucky firefighter of nearly 60 years dies after being hurt in line of duty
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Campbellsville firefighter died Sunday, five days after getting in a crash while responding to a call.
Charlie Shaw, 78, collapsed at home on April 20, five days after suffering minor injuries in the line of duty, according to a memorial post. An autopsy revealed that he died from a pulmonary embolism from a clot caused by the crash.

Shaw was a fire service member for nearly 60 years and became a career firefighter in 1970, the memorial post revealed. He worked many years as the Campbellsville-Taylor County Rescue Chief and was an area coordinator for Kentucky's State Fire Rescue Training until he retired in 2013.
Shaw was serving as a volunteer firefighter before his death.
His body was escorted back to Campbellsville on Tuesday, according to the Taylor County Fire Department.
