Who is Cher's son Chaz Bono – and has he banned her from his upcoming wedding? The LGBTQ advocate and author is set to marry Shara Blue Mathes, but the Believe singer has reportedly been disinvited
Pop goddess Cher has had a tumultuous relationship with her two sons, Chaz Bono and
Elijah Blue Allman , lately. For months, she was engaged in a conservatorship bid over the latter, citing his 'severe mental health and substance abuse issues' and dropped her petition in September 2024 to 'focus on healing and rebuilding their family bond', per Allman's lawyers. During the legal battle, he also accused Cher of opposing his reconciliation with his wife, Marieangela King.

As for Chaz, he has reportedly banned Cher from his upcoming wedding to Shara Blue Mathes. An insider told In Touch that the two are 'removing Cher from the guest list entirely and don't feel too bad about it either,' adding, 'They want a simple ceremony with none of Cher's theatrics.' The source also claimed that mother and son have had a strained relationship since Bono transitioned in 2008.

Cher's eldest son Chaz Bono has had a multifaceted career. After a brief stint in music, he began writing for the LGBTQ magazine The Advocate. He has fought for LGBTQ rights by working with the Human Rights Campaign and Glaad.
As a child, Bono was on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and started acting when he got older, notably appearing in American Horror Story: Cult (2017). He most recently starred in the 2024 film Little Bites.
