Notre Dame announced the launch of ‘Cheer Her Name,' celebrating women's athletics
In the 2025-26 academic year, Notre Dame has announced that they will be celebrating 50-years of women's athletics with the 'Cheer Her Name' initiative, the university announced on Wednesday.
The idea behind this is to 'celebrate all the individuals who have and continue to contribute to the remarkable success of our women's programs,' as the university announced. Athletic director Pete Bevacqua has been a busy man, as he spoke about Notre Dame's rivalry with USC and the College Football Playoff potential selection changes just yesterday.
The first event will be when the football team hosts Purdue the weekend of Sept. 19th-21st, as they've invited 'all female former student-athletes and others who have supported Notre Dame women's sports, to return to campus to be recognized and celebrated,' as stated in the release.
It's great to see the university honoring the female athletes of the past and present, another reason why so many want to be part of the Notre Dame family.
