Drag race leads to 3 injuries in Garden City
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A teen and two other passengers were hospitalized after a drag racing crash. It happened on Saturday after 7 p.m. The Garden City Police Department said officers responded to the 600 block of E. Mary. They found a Chevy Camaro with extensive damage. They learned the Camaro had been driving westbound on Mary Street, racing a Dodge Charger. Police said the Camaro was changing lanes when it lost control, struck a curb, slid across grass and hit several metal poles before nearly rolling over. The 19-year-old driver of the Camaro and two others were taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. The teen was cited for reckless driving and drag racing. Motorcyclist killed in crash with vehicle in South San Jose
A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning when he crashed into a vehicle in San Jose, police said. The crash happened at about 6:47 a.m. in the area of Senter Road and Sylvandale Avenue in South San Jose. The San Jose Police Department said in a press release that a man driving a 2015 Chevy Camaro was crossing Senter headed east from Buckeye Drive into the dedicated right turn lane of eastbound Sylvandale and was broadsided by a 2004 Harley-Davidson heading north on Senter. The motorcyclist, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. The driver of the Camaro remained at the scene and was cooperating with the police investigation. The motorcyclist's identity was withheld until his family was notified. Police said it was the 10th fatal collision and 10th traffic death of 2025. Motorcyclist killed in crash in San Jose
A motorcyclist died Thursday from injuries he suffered when his bike struck the side of a moving car in San Jose, police said. At 6:47 a.m. San Jose police officers responded to the crash, which occurred in the area of Senter Road and Sylvandale Avenue, police said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office did not immediately respond to a request to provide the victim's identity. A preliminary investigation found that a man drove his 2015 black Chevy Camaro eastbound on Buckeye Drive onto Senter Road and was heading into the designated right turn lane for eastbound Sylvandale Avenue when it was struck broadside by the motorcycle, a 2004 silver Harley Davidson, according to police. The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Senter Road just south of Sylvandale Avenue at the time of the crash, police said. The driver of the Chevy remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said. The crash marks San Jose's 10th fatal collision and 10th traffic death this year, police said. Police are asking anyone with further information regarding the crash to contact the department's traffic investigations unit at 408-277-4654.

'He had many dreams': Boca High School graduate dies in I-95 crash hours after ceremony
Just hours after celebrating his high school graduation, Hendry Aceituno Gudiño was one of the two people killed in a May 17 car crash on Interstate 95. Gudiño, an 18-year-old from Riviera Beach, was on his way home from a celebratory dinner with his girlfriend and her father at the time of the crash, a close friend said. He was a former student at Boca Raton High School. "That same day, Hendry graduated," family members wrote in a GoFundMe page created to cover funeral and relocation expenses. "An achievement he had worked hard for, with dedication and the deep desire to make his mother proud." They said it was supposed to be one of the happiest days of Gudiño's life. 'Three remarkable heroes': Trump honors PBSO motorcycle deputies killed in November crash According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at around 8:40 p.m. May 17, three people from Port St. Lucie were traveling north on I-95 in a 2002 Chevy Camaro. The driver, a 52-year-old man whose name has not yet been released, lost control of the vehicle near the Martin Highway exit, traveled across all northbound lanes and struck a guardrail in the median. He and Gudiño were pronounced dead at the scene. Gudiño's girlfriend, a 16-year-old, was sitting in the rear seat of the car. Paramedics drove her to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the crash report. Roberto Hurtado, a classmate and close friend of Gudiño, organized the GoFundMe page. He and Gudiño met shortly after Gudiño had arrived from his home country of Venezuela in 2023. They bonded over Gudiño's time spent in Ecuador, where Hurtado, who was a grade ahead of him, is from. "He became a brother to me," Hurtado said. "But life took him away from me." Gudiño dreamed of graduating for his mother, Anielka, and his late grandmother. "He had many, many dreams, many goals like everyone else," Hurtado said. But the first one was to have his own BMW. He'd tell his friends he was going to call it "Goldo's BMW." "El Goldo" was the nickname friends had lovingly called him, Hurtado said. "Hendry was a cheerful person, never short of laughter," Hurtado said. "Above all, he was a very loyal person, and whenever you needed to talk about a serious topic, he was there. He was a very mature person despite his age, and he didn't deserve for this to happen to him." Hurtado said it took Gudiño's family and friends almost four hours to receive confirmation of his death, and that they heard it not from police, but from the staff at the hospital where Gudiño's girlfriend was sent. "It is with deep sadness that I share the news that one of our students has passed away unexpectedly over the weekend," King wrote. The email stated counselors and school psychologists would be available on campus for students and staff. "He will always live in our hearts," Hurtado said. "Even though he's not here physically, I know he's with us and we're trying our best to give him a good send-off. Boca Raton Community High School graduate dies in fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Martin County on May 17
MARTIN COUNTY — A single vehicle crash on Interstate 95 on May 17 resulted in two fatalities, one of which was a recent Boca Raton Community High School graduate, 18-year-old Hendry Aceituno Gudiño. Around 8:40 p.m. that night a 2002 Chevy Camaro was traveling north on I-95 near Southwest Martin Highway when the driver lost control and the car traveled across the northbound lanes and struck a guardrail in the median, according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Indiana Miranda. The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man, and Gudiño, of Riviera Beach, were pronounced deceased on scene. A 16-year-old girl in the back seat of the car was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the crash report. Roberto Hurtado, a classmate and friend of Gudiño, said the girl in the back seat was Gudiño's girlfriend and the man driving was the girlfriend's father. Hurtado organized a GoFundMe to help raise money to cover funeral expenses, relocation expenses, and to support Gudiño's family. He said he and other friends are doing everything they can to give Gudiño a "proper goodbye." Gudiño graduated high school in Palm Beach County on May 14. Hurtado said Gudiño was born in Venzuela and he moved with his mother to Florida in 2023. He said they met because Gudiño spoke about Ecuador, where Hurtado is from. Hurtado said Gudiño called and Facetimed all of his friends about graduating high school and showing off his diploma saying "I got it, I did it." He said Gudiño was such a joyful person and there was always laughter when he was around. "When you needed to talk about something serious, he was there. When it was time to laugh, he laughed with us," Hurtado said. "He was always there no matter what." He said as a tribute to Gudiño, he and a few others have decided to get the same tattoo in the same place on their arms. Mary Grella, of Vero Beach, said she and her daughter were driving back from Palm Beach Gardens when the crash happened in front of them. She said I-95 was busy at the time and the car involved in the crash passed her before losing control, turning sideways in front of a semi, and eventually going off the road. "The semi starts breaking, I start breaking, we're basically just ready for impact trying to figure out where the car is going," Grella said. Grella said car parts were flying everywhere and while the car was sliding it smelled like fire and rubber. She said it happened so quick but felt like everything was moving in slow motion. Grella said her daughter called 911 immediately after the crash happened. "I wasn't even quite sure where we were," Grella said. "I told them we were before the St. Lucie exit and they pinged our car to figure out where we were. By the time they figured out where we were, they had dispatch going, so they were amazing."
