Getting tested for HIV, syphilis first step towards motherhood: Saran civil surgeon
Chhapra: Saran civil surgeon (CS) Dr Sagar Dulal Sinha has said that getting tested for HIV and syphilis is the first step in accepting the responsibility of motherhood for any pregnant woman. Making this appeal to the newly wed couple, the CS on Monday said that the symptoms of the two diseases may not be visible in the beginning, and if remained undetected, the infection may pass on to the child creating serious health problems, even death. "Pregnant women must come forward for the HIV test without any fear or hesitation. In case, the blood sample confirms the presence of HIV or syphilis beforehand, the foetus could be saved from adverse effects. The facilities for these tests are available in all govt health centres free of cost, the CS said, adding Ashas, ANMs and other health workers have been creating awareness about these tests in different villages. The CS suggested to get these tests for marriage to be on a safe side. The CS said that unsafe sex, use of infected syringe or needle, and infected blood transfusion are some of the possible reasons for the infection of HIV or syphilis.

India will firmly respond to terror attack, Rudy says in Doha
Chhapra: Saran MP and former Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy during his official visit to Qatar along with a multi-party Parliamentary delegation, led by MP Supriya Sule, after arrival at country's capital Doha on Monday interacted with Her Excellency Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, deputy speaker of Qatar's Shura Council and other Qatari Parliamentarians. Earlier, the delegation was given a warm welcome by the Indian ambassador, Vipul. During the interaction session, Rudy said India has made it clear that it is not afraid of nuclear threats. "If there is any terrorist attack on India, we will give a befitting reply. The country does not differentiate between terrorism and countries that support terrorism," he said in a press release issued on Monday. Rudy said Qatar also reiterated its zero tolerance policy against terrorism and stressed the need for united condemnation against the heinous act at the international level. Before departing for Doha, Rudy said at the Delhi airport that India is committed to fighting Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they have given a befitting reply to the terrorists. The delegation is expected to visit Egypt, Ethiopia and South Africa, where India's foreign policy and its stance on terrorism will be presented in detail.

Mock polling on EVMs underway in Saran
Chhapra: In the final phase of first level check (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs ahead of the assembly elections, mock polling will be conducted from May 27 to May 30 in Saran district. Saran district election officer-cum-DM Aman Sameer said, "A mock poll will be conducted on around 250 EVMs. All political parties have been informed via official communication and prior meetings. They have been asked to randomly select EVMs, cast mock votes and observe the process vigilantly," he said. Deputy election officer Zaved Iqbal said as per ECI guidelines, 5% of FLC-cleared EVMs will undergo mock polling. "On 1% of the selected machines, 1,200 votes will be polled; on another 2%, 1,000; and on the remaining 2%, 500 votes," he said. After the polling, VVPAT slips will be verified against the control unit results. EVM cell nodal officer Ravi Prakash added, "Load testing will be conducted on about 1% of EVMs or approximately 50 machines. The FLC work in Saran has been fully transparent and ECI observers have expressed satisfaction with the process."

Can't repay debt neither to martyr nor his family: Governor pays tribute to Mohd Imtiaz
1 2 3 4 5 6 Chhapra: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Wednesday paid tribute to BSF sub-inspector Mohd Imtiaz, killed in line of duty during heavy firing by Pakistan at the international border in RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir on May 10, and consoled his family members at his native Narayanpur village under Garkha block in Saran district. This comes a day after CM Nitish Kumar and leader of opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, visited the Narayanpur village on governor said there could be no greater person than the one who became a martyr for his country. "We cannot repay the debt neither to the martyr nor to his bereaved family," said the governor, adding that a memorial should be built to honour Imtiaz. The CM has already declared that a new health sub-centre and memorial will be set up in the village to honour the fallen soldier, besides naming a 2km stretch of road from Chintamanganj Bridge to Rahampur Bazar after Imtiaz. A gate at the entrance of Jalal-Basant panchayat, under which Narayanpur village falls, will also be constructed and named Shaheed Imtiaz Dwar. The family members have also demanded that a college be established in the village in the honour of the martyr. The governor said he would see to it that the demands of the bereaved family are fulfilled. Local MLC Sachchidanand Ray; vice-chancellor of Jai Prakash University, Parmendra Kumar Bajpai; and Saran DIG, district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and DDC among others accompanied the governor to the village. Despite a pall of gloom engulfing the village, the air was filled with pride that a brave son of the soil made the supreme sacrifice for the country during Operation Sindoor.

Hosps introduce QR code system to track medicine availability
Chhapra: The health department has launched a digital initiative in Saran district to ensure transparency and reduce patient inconvenience in govt hospitals. From now on, patients visiting any govt health facility, from primary health centres to sub-divisional and district hospitals, will be able to check the availability of medicines by scanning a QR QR code system is integrated with the Centre's Drugs and Vaccine Distribution Management System (DVDMS) portal, allowing real-time updates on stock levels. The move is intended to prevent patients from being misled about the availability of medicines by any vested the challenges faced by patients in the past, Saran civil surgeon Dr Sagar Dulal Sinha said, "Patients visiting govt hospitals were often harassed under the pretext of certain medicines being unavailable. Although a system for medicine distribution was already in place, patients, especially those travelling from distant areas,, frequently faced difficulties and were forced to purchase medicines from the market.""With the introduction of the new system, the patients would feel relief and would be able to save time and money," he to instructions issued by the health department, scanning the QR code will immediately display a list of medicines on the patient's cellphone. Medicines that are in stock will be shown in green while those unavailable will appear in Kumar, district programme manager (DPM) of the District Health Society, expressed optimism about the new service. "We hope that the digital services will provide transparency in health services," he said.
