Chicago police issue alert for antisemitic vandalism in Hyde Park

Chicago police have issued a community alert for antisemitic graffiti and vandalism in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood. Police said there have been seven recent instances of criminal property damage at the end of June and in July in which someone has put stickers or graffiti with antisemitic phrases on property like mailboxes, stop signs, Amazon lockers and emergency bells. Police said they the vandalism occurred at the following locations and times: An investigation by Area One detectives is ongoing. 2 charged after toddler shot with unsecured gun inside home Chicago's West Side

Two men were charged after a 2-year-old boy was shot with an unsecured gun inside a home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Monday evening. Chicago police said Tyree Johnson, 26, and Deonte Johnson, 23, were each charged with one misdemeanor count of child endangerment. The men are expected in court for detention hearings on Wednesday. At 8:26 p.m., police were called to a home in the 400 block of North Lawndale Avenue after the toddler entered a bedroom where an unsecured gun was located, police said. A man heard a loud noise, and found the 2-year-old boy with a graze wound on the left wrist, police said. The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County where was listed in good condition, police said. A weapon was recovered on the scene.

French bulldog Milo stolen in violent armed robbery in West Roseland, Chicago police say

Chicago police said a French bulldog was stolen at gunpoint in a violent armed robbery on the city's South Side Tuesday. Polcie said the 2-year-old male French bulldog, named Milo, was on a walk with his owner in the 11200-block of South Union Avenue in the city's West Roseland neighborhood when two men armed with guns and wearing ski masks came up to them. They hit the owner several times as they tried to take the dog, and eventually threw him to the ground. Then they were able to grab Milo and run away. An investigation by Area Two detectives is ongoing. Anyone with information about the stolen dog should call 312-747-8273.

Woman seriously injured in hit-and-run crash on Chicago's West Side

A 58-year-old woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Chicago's West Side on Monday night. According to Chicago police, the woman was walking on the side of the street, in the 500 block of North Pulaski Road, when she was hit by a car around 10:50 p.m. Police said the victim sustained trauma to her body and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition. Police have not released details on the vehicle wanted in connection with the crash. No arrests have been made. Area Four detectives are investigating.
