Mother Abandons Children To Travel Abroad For Plastic Surgery
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: The Misdemeanor Court imposed a fine of KD4,000 on a mother for neglecting her children and endangering them by leaving them unattended and traveling abroad for plastic surgery, reports Al-Seyassah daily. This was confirmed by witnesses, the child protection report, and the statements of the son during investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution. The mother left her children in an apartment prepared for them by their father. The grandmother confirmed that the accused had not been with her children for several months until the complaint was filed, and that she deliberately neglected them.
The father corroborated the testimony of the grandmother, while the son revealed that his mother had left them a long time ago, expressing his desire to stay with his father only. Attorney Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan appeared in court on behalf of the grandmother as a civil plaintiff, demanding the maximum penalty be imposed on the mother and order her to pay temporary civil compensation of KD1,001. The lawyer of the mother submitted a defense memorandum demanding her acquittal. The court based its ruling on the provisions of Child Law No. 21/2015, which guarantees a child the right to care and protection from neglect and punishes the parents or guardians if they fail to fulfill their duties.
