Kim Kardashian criticized for allowing North West to appear in FKA Twigs' music video
North West is back in the spotlight after appearing in the music video for FKA Twigs' latest single, Childlike Things. The eight-minute video premiered on March 27, 2025, on YouTube and includes cameos from Kim Kardashian, Kevin Smith, and Jake Shane as fictional music executives. FKA Twigs took to Instagram to celebrate the collaboration, writing, 'Childlike things music video out now! Thank you north for being so wonderful and cool to collaborate with u lil angel, my 13 year old self is smiling right now. Link in bio xx.' In the video, North is heard rapping lines like: 'Hello, my name is North / From California to Tokyo / Jesus the King / Praise God / Jesus is the only true God.' Directed by Jordan Hemingway, the video has quickly gone viral, drawing both praise and criticism. One user wrote, 'I still don't get the hate around this song. North wrote the verse herself, she wasn't saying anything inappropriate for a kid, she is also dressed age-appropriately in the video. Where's the issue? The kid ate down.' i still don't get the hate around this song. north wrote her verse herself, she wasn't saying anything inappropriate for a kid, she is also dressed age-appropriately in the video. where's the issue? the kid ate down. — ZOMBIEBØY (@siresinferno) March 27, 2025 Others were less enthusiastic. Critics commented on X (formerly Twitter), with remarks like, "I see why Kanye is mad. This is inappropriate," and "Is it just me or is this sh*t unacceptable." Another user wrote, "I can only share my own opinion, a lil girl has no business starring in this video." I see why Kanye is mad. This is inappropriate — bamSLAM (@baMbus3000) March 27, 2025 i can only share my own opinion, a lil girl has no business starring in this video 🤷🏻♂️💯 — DASTORIA (@Dastoriaaa) March 28, 2025 However, others offered praise, with reactions including, "She's talented. I like her," "She's a little star, my North Star," and "Genuinely, how is this inappropriate for North??" Amid the growing discourse, FKA Twigs addressed her creative decision, explaining her choice in a March 21 Instagram video. "It [needed] someone who has that tenacity, who has that strong point of view that you have when you're 11. Then I saw an interview with North West, and she was so confident. It suddenly occurred to me that I would've loved to have a friend like North who could speak up for themselves." Twigs added that North's lyrics were "powerful," emphasizing her "strong and unwavering point of view" for such a young age. The song is part of FKA Twigs' latest album 'Eusexua,' which dropped in January and charted on the Billboard 200. Fans continue to debate the visual's message, but one sentiment is clear—North West is quickly becoming a voice of her generation, whether everyone agrees or not.

FKA Twigs has reunited with North West to release a music video for their collaboration, 'Childlike Things,' and they've also called on Kevin Smith and Jake Shane to guest star. In the clip, Smith and Shane act as music industry executives as Twigs tries to prove her artistry to them. When they don't see the vision, Twigs brings in North to amplify the energy. She continued, 'I was like, 'OK, it has to be North, she has to put her point of view on the song.' She came and wrote about her faith, which I think is really powerful.' Here's What's Going On With Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, And Those Alleged Text Messages About North West's Feature On A New Song With Diddy
Over the weekend, Kanye West seemingly took aim at his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, on X. And so, to save you from engaging directly with any of the rapper's online vitriol, here's a breakdown of the situation in one place. Kim and Kanye share four children: sons, Saint and Psalm West, and daughters, North and Chicago West. After a decade together, Kim and Kanye split in early 2021, and throughout their nearly two-year divorce battle, the children were the center of many of Kanye's social media tirades criticizing his ex and her family. From debates over the kids' schooling and social media presence to straight-up accusing Kim of kidnapping, much of the co-parenting contention seemed to stem from Kanye's desire for control and authority over the kids' lives, despite Kim reportedly being the ' primary caregiver.' And on Saturday, Kanye seemed to emphasize this need for authority in a series of X posts in which he alleged that the ' Kardashian mob ' and Disney (which, for context, produces the family's Hulu reality show) had restricted his 'rights' to 'raise' his children and 'have say so' of what they do, from their schooling to their friends. Alleging that his time with his children is in some way being restricted, Kanye claimed in another post that seeing his kids is like 'visitation,' comparing it to being 'in prison.' These posts have since been deleted. When Kim and Kanye finalized their divorce in November 2022, the exes were granted joint physical and legal custody of their kids, agreeing to settle any co-parenting disputes privately by participating in mediation. Kim has indicated numerous times over the years that she takes on the majority of parenting responsibilities ' alone,' and a source told People in October 2024 that the Skims founder is 'pretty much a single mom' since Kanye is 'sadly not around very much.' Notably, Kim has not publicly commented on any of the hateful, antisemitic, and deeply harmful comments that Kanye has shared online since the start of the year. However, it seems she was recently forced to step in to prevent her ex from releasing a song featuring their 11-year-old daughter, North, rapping alongside the disgraced music mogul Sean ' Diddy ' Combs, who is currently in a New York prison awaiting trial for a slew of charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic For context, North has shown a keen interest in music for a while now and has expressed a desire to become a rapper. In 2024, she became one of the youngest-ever artists to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 chart thanks to her and her dad's song 'Talking.' She has been featured on several other tracks with Kanye and recently rapped on FKA Twigs' popular song, " Childlike Things." On Saturday, Kanye posted the song, titled 'Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,' on X. 'new song by PUFF DADDY feat. His son KING COMBS my daughter NORTH WEST and new Yeezy artist from Chicago Jasmine Williams,' he captioned the X post, which is also no longer live on his page. Snippets suggest that the song begins with a phone conversation between Diddy and Kanye, in which Diddy is seemingly thanking him for 'taking care' of his seven kids, saying: 'Ain't nobody reach out to them, ain't nobody call them.' Later in the track, North can also be heard rapping: 'When you see me shining, then you see the light.' Before Kanye shared the track online, he posted screenshots of an alleged text conversation between himself and Kim, in which it appears the reality star was explaining that her trademark ownership of 'North West' prevents him from using their daughter's vocals on the song with Diddy. 'I asked u at the time if I can trademark her name,' the first message from the contact saved as 'Kim K' reads, per the screenshot in the since-removed X post. 'You said yes. When she's 18, it goes to her. So stop. I sent paper work over so she wouldn't be in the Diddy song To protect her. One person has to trademark!' Suggesting that Kim is the sole owner of the West kids' trademarks, the next message reads: 'We agreed when they were born i would get all of our kids names and trademarks. So one else would take them.' @kanyewest / X / Via After vowing in the first message he'd 'never' be speaking to her again, Kanye's apparent response reads: 'Amend it or I'm going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You're going to have to kill me.' As previously mentioned, none of these posts — including the one featuring the song — can be found on Kanye's X account at the time of writing. Kim has not publicly addressed the situation; however, she has previously condemned Kanye's decision to air their private co-parenting disputes on social media. 'Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye's obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all,' she wrote on Instagram in February 2022. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Daughter North, 11, Raps in Japanese on FKA twigs' New Album ‘Eusexua'
North West is showing her multilingual mastery yet again. The 11-year-old daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian is featured on a track on FKA twigs' new album, Eusexua, which dropped on Friday, January 24. North raps in Japanese on 'Childlike Things,' the eighth track on the album. 'Where the wild things are I will be / Lost in a world of childlike things and fantasies,' FKA twigs sings, before North comes in and raps, in Japanese, lyrics that translate to, 'Hello / My name is North-chan / California to Tokyo / Jesus king / God is praise / Jesus is the only true God.' Kardashian, a proud mom, promoted the track to her 358 million Instagram followers via her story on Friday. North West Raps in Dad Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign's 'Talking/Once Again' Music Video North previously rapped in Japanese on "Bomb," featured on her dad's Vulture 2 album, released last August. The music video for the track released in November and featured North and her sister, Chicago, 7, in the desert in a Tesla Cybertruck. (West and Kardashian also share sons Saint, 9, and Psalm, 5.). North has spent time in Japan, telling Interview Magazine in October 2024 what she 'loves' about the country, including that 'everybody's style is on point.' Her appearance on FKA twigs' album comes while the tween is working on an album of her own. North announced Elementary School Dropout, her debut album, last March. The name is a nod to her dad's debut studio album, The College Dropout, from 2004. Ye, 47, has seemingly been in the studio with North as recently as Tuesday, January 21, when he posted a black-and-white photo of her via his Instagram channel. Khloe Kardashian Shares Adorable Video of True Singing to North West's New 'Talking' Song 'This little girl made me love music again 🥲,' he captioned the post. 'She asked me to make beats for her I got back on the ASR Chopped up beats for her album and chopped every beats with my bare hand for BULLY.' While North continues working on her own project, her featured appearance on Eusexua has been met with mixed reviews. Rolling Stone UK called it 'a bizarre misstep on the album,' while The Quietus said, 'it sticks out on an otherwise sophisticated album, and is just plain annoying.' Many fans, however, reacted more positively, sharing their praise for twigs and North via X. 'Never in my life would i thought i be dancing to a fka twigs + north west collab yet here we are,' one fan wrote. 'THE NORTH WEST FEATURE ISNT BAD FKA TWIGS DID IT THIS SONG IS FUN AND CAMP I LOVE IT,' another exclaimed.
