Dak Prescott excited to add former Patriots QB to Cowboys

Joe Milton reportedly saw himself as a starting quarterback and didn't believe he had a legitimate shot to compete against Drake Maye for the QB1 spot on the New England Patriots. So New England traded Milton to the Dallas Cowboys even though they also have a starting quarterback in Dak Prescott. Advertisement While Michael Irvin believes Milton could give Prescott some competition this summer, the longtime Cowboys quarterback doesn't seem too worried about losing his job. 'Anybody that's played with me or been in that quarterback room knows that all I care about is everybody pushing everybody and getting better,' Prescott told reporters at the Children's Cancer Fund Gala in Dallas, per video from Cowboys reporter Joseph Hoyt. 'I've already worked with Will (Grier) for years, know his mindset. I'm excited to add Joe to the room and I know Will is as well.' Milton only played in one game for the Patriots last season — they're Week 18 finale win against the Buffalo Bills. He certainly showed promise, but New England is committed to Maye as its starter. The Cowboys showed their confidence in Prescott by signing him to a four-year, $240 million extension in September despite his injury history. But if Prescott, for whatever reason, will be unable to go at any point during the 2025 season, it would probably be fair to assume Milton would be ready to step in. Advertisement Though Irvin warned Prescott on his podcast to not give Milton a chance at seeing the field if he wants to keep his job. 'You better stay healthy, stay ready, stay on the football field,' the Cowboys legend said. 'Now remember, you (are) making $60 (million) a year, this kid (is) only making $1 million a year. If you give him a chance on the field, it's going to get ugly.' More Patriots Content
