Taylor Swift rumored to join Travis Kelce in Kansas City for star-studded charity weekend

Taylor Swift might be bringing her star power to Kansas City this weekend, and fans are buzzing about the possibility. The pop icon is rumored to attend the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend — a multi-day charity event benefiting Children's Mercy Hospital — in support of her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Travis Kelce returns to Kansas City for OTAs and charity work After spending the offseason training in Boca Raton, Florida, where he stayed in a lavish $20 million waterfront home at the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, Kelce returned to Kansas City for the third phase of Organized Team Activities (OTAs). But football isn't the only thing on his agenda. The three-time Super Bowl champ is also committed to Big Slick, an annual event hosted by Kansas City natives Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet, and others to raise funds for Children's Mercy Hospital. Kelce has been a crowd favorite at the event in past years, and his presence this time has sparked speculation about a potential Swift appearance. Taylor Swift's presence in Florida sparks curiosity While Kelce was training in Florida, fans were curious about whether Swift had joined him. That question was answered when the couple was spotted dining at Harry's Bar & Restaurant in West Palm Beach. A source told People magazine that Swift is staying in Miami 'to support and spend time' with Kelce as he prepares for the 2025 season. 'Travis was working on Friday before his dinner date with Taylor. He left early to go meet her,' the source added. Though her name isn't officially listed among the celebrity guests, The Kansas City Star reported there may be 'opportunities for Swift to quietly take part this weekend.' The possibility is more than just wishful thinking for fans — Swift previously visited Children's Mercy Hospital in December after wrapping up her Eras Tour. As the Star noted, 'An appearance by Swift would certainly be a show-stopper.'

'Cheers' co-stars pay tribute to George Wendt following his death at 76

George Wendt 's "Cheers" co-stars and Hollywood celebrities are sharing heartfelt tributes following his death at age 76. Wendt's family confirmed the news Tuesday morning, announcing that the actor died peacefully in his sleep at home, according to a statement shared by his representative with ABC News. "George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him," the statement read. "He will be missed forever." Wendt was best known for his iconic role as Norm Peterson on the classic sitcom "Cheers," appearing in all 275 episodes from the show's premiere in 1982 to its finale in 1993. His beloved performance earned him six Emmy nominations and solidified his place in television history. Before his breakout role on "Cheers," Wendt also appeared in several notable TV shows, including "M*A*S*H," "Taxi" and "Soap." Calling Wendt "my friend," "Cheers" co-star John Ratzenberger shared a statement with ABC News expressing his heartbreak over the loss. "For eleven years on 'Cheers,' we shared a stage, a lot of laughs, and a front-row seat to one of television's most beloved friendships," the statement read. "George brought Norm to life with a subtle brilliance — the kind that made it look easy. That was his gift." Ratzenberger described Wendt as "a true craftsman — humble, hilarious, and full of heart," adding: "What you saw on screen was exactly who he was off screen with impeccable comedic timing and a deep loyalty to those he loved." "I'll miss our conversations and the quiet moments of friendship that meant the most," the statement added. "My thoughts are with his wife Bernadette, their children, and everyone who loved him.' Ted Danson, who played Sam Malone on "Cheers," also shared a moving tribute in his statement to ABC News. "I am devastated to hear that Georgie is no longer with us," the statement read. "I am sending all my love to Bernadette and the children. It is going to take me a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie." Another "Cheers" co-star, Rhea Perlman, told ABC News in a statement that Wendt "was the sweetest, kindest man I ever met." "It was impossible not to like him," she continued. "As Carla, I was often standing next to him, as Norm always took the same seat at the end of the bar, which made it easy to grab him and beat the crap out of him at least once a week. I loved doing it and he loved pretending it didn't hurt. What a guy! I'll miss him more than words can say." More tributes from Hollywood stars Comedian and actor Jeff Ross posted a group selfie with Wendt on Instagram. "I was lucky enough to spend some quality time talking with George Wendt a year ago at @bigslickkc annual event benefiting Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City," Ross wrote in the caption. "He wasn't feeling his best, but he still rose to the occasion and made thousands of people laugh a lot for a great cause. He performed a hilarious 'Da Bears' sketch with @jasonsudeikis @killatrav @patrickmahomes written by the wonderful @robertsmigiel 🍺Cheers George — and wherever you are I know everybody knows your name." Melissa Joan Hart also paid tribute on Instagram, sharing a throwback photo of her and Wendt from their time on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." "Heaven just got a little funnier with #GeorgeWendt," she wrote in the caption. "It was a thrill to work beside him on #SabrinatheTeenageWitch for a handful of episodes. I was a big #Cheers fan and knew I was among one of the best when he was on set." She continued, "He was warm, professional and kind and our cast and crew were gifted with his presence every time. Rest in peace! #GodBlesstheFunnyPeople." Actor Eric Allan Kramer reflected on meeting Wendt while filming "Cheers." "One of the warmest, funniest guys I've ever come across," he wrote in his Instagram caption. "Welcoming as the star he was, incredibly giving as an actor in rehearsal (and when the cameras were rolling)… Also the first one to make sure I had a beer in my hand at the end of the night." "We shared a history of work with the Calgary Stampeders and exchanged many stories over the week.. 'Cheers,' indeed," he added. "Many thanks for the laughs and the education… RIP."

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children names Jodi Coombs as interim CEO

Jodi Coombs takes over the interim CEO post from Rob Brooks, who has served in the same capacity for the past year. St. Christopher's Hospital for Children on Monday named Jodi Coombs as its new interim CEO. Coombs takes over the post from Rob Brooks, who has served in the same capacity for the past year. Brooks, previously chief operating officer at St. Christopher's, will remain with the North Philadelphia pediatric medical center for the next week to assist with the transition before departing. While Coombs takes the helm with an interim designation, St. Christopher's is not conducting any additional search for a new top executive. Coombs began her career as a registered nurse and has more than 30 years of experience in pediatric and family-centered care. She was most recently executive vice president and chief operating officer at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. At Children's Mercy Hospital, she implemented programs that resulted in a 20% increase in operating room volume and a 50% reduction in lost bed hours, according to St. Christopher's Hospital co-owner Tower Health. Prior to her time at Children's Mercy, Coombs was senior vice president of women and children's services at what is now Tufts Medical Center in Boston. St. Christopher's Hospital, which Tower owns in partnership with Drexel University, has struggled financially in recent years, posting an operating loss of $31.6 million in fiscal 2024 and an operating loss of $20.9 million in fiscal 2023. Revenues were $313.5 million in fiscal 2024 and $329.2 million the previous year. In fiscal 2024, emergency department visits at St. Christopher's increased 15.1%, admissions grew by 8.5% and surgery volume was up 4.4%. The pediatric hospital expects to be profitable in fiscal 2025. Last year, the medical center won legislative approval to be added to an existing assessment program used to increase the amount of federal matching Medicaid dollars that are provided to city hospitals. Under the Philadelphia Hospital Assessment Program, medical centers are assessed a fee equaling a small percentage of their net patient revenue. Those funds are pooled together for the state's Medicaid program and used to increase the match the state receives in federal Medicaid funds. While some of those additional funds are retained by the state and city, the remaining money is divided among hospitals that treat a large volume of low-income patients covered by Medicaid. St. Christopher's reported it received $75.6 million from the program this year. Additionally, the medical center last year received a $30 million cash infusion for fiscal years 2024 and 2025 from a group of four health care organizations: Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Jefferson Health, Temple Health and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. That same group plus the Einstein Healthcare Network, now part of Jefferson, previously provided the North Philadelphia pediatric medical center with $54 million in fiscal years 2022 and 2023. Comedian faked his own death in a ‘horrible' prank on heartbroken mum

Will Forte has opened up about the moment he faked his own death as part of a prank on his unsuspecting mother. The actor and comedian is most known for his hilarious efforts on Saturday Night Live, as well as stints in MacGruber, The Cleveland Show, 30 Rock and Amy Schumer's Netflix flick, Kinda Pregnant. In an appearance on Hot Ones, the 54-year-old looked back on his career so far, while reflecting on a 'horrible' joke he played on his mom, and how it actually taught him a huge lesson about comedy. When host Sean Evans questioned him on the best prank he had ever played on his parents, he suggested the anecdote could be cut from the final episode as it was an 'awful' story. 'I have an awful one. Ugh. I'm not even going to tell it,' Will replied, as the presenter urged him to reconsider. 'It's awful. It's horrible. You'll see why. Please feel free to cut this out. 'I once – It's really bad! – I saw my mom driving in the neighborhood and I was like, 'Oh, this'll be funny.' I wrote on a piece of paper, 'I'm so sorry, Mom.' And then left that at the front door and then laid down on her bathroom floor as if I was no longer alive. 'Hearing her scream, it was the worst! It was the worst thing. I immediately popped up – 'Mom I'm kidding!'' Despite the 'joke' completely falling apart immediately, Will conceded: 'It was a good lesson, though. It did teach you, 'Not everything is funny. There are things that hurt people.' 'I certainly look back at my own work and there are regrets I have, but I don't love comedy that hurts people or makes fun of people.' Another lesson the Win or Lose star learned the hard way was to always wash your hands after eating spicy food – something we're hoping he remembered after his stint in the Hot Ones hot seat. Sharing a funny story with Sean, and viewers watching on from home, he recalled the moment his penis turned into a 'f**king volcano' after eating spicy food at a hospital event. It is well known that you should never touch your eyes after eating spicy snacks, but Will unfortunately realized too late that the rule should also extend to other body parts… More Trending 'At the Big Slick in Kansas City, it's a charity show you [Sean] know, which benefits Children's Mercy Hospital. You come out sometimes and you will do a version of the show [Hot Ones],' the Four Seasons favorite continued. 'One year I was a part of it. I ate this final wing, then I went to the restroom, and I had not washed my hands. 'About three minutes later, my penis was like a f**king volcano. It was on fire.' View More » 'I learned a lesson,' he added. 'I learned that eye lesson but it's also a penis lesson.' Got a story?
