Chili's business booms over 3 for Me deal, Triple Dipper appetizer and viral cheese pull
While national restaurant chains are scaling back their locations, Chili's Grill & Bar has remained on top. The casual dining chain saw sales increase 31% last quarter at restaurants open for at least a year. This marked Chili's third consecutive quarter of double-digit sales growth. Why is Chili's so popular? Mainly social media, the company said. 'Our marketing team has done a great job of getting back into what we call the 'zeitgeist' or being relevant again,' Kevin Hochman, CEO of Chili's parent Brinker International told CNBC. Throughout last year, content creators took to TikTok to post their Chili's reviews, particularly for the "Triple Dipper" appetizer. The Triple Dipper lets customers pick three items from the 14 offerings. Items include fried mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, chicken crispers, sliders and Southwest eggrolls. The fried mozzarella sticks went viral because of the cheese pull, with people ordering it to see how far the melted cheese would stretch before breaking. On the social media platform X, Chili's engages with fans and promotes its "3 for Me" deal, allowing customers to order a drink, appetizer and select entree starting at $10.99.
