Suspect charged after alleged sexual assault in Walkerville
A 57-year-old male has been arrested after unlawfully entering a home in Walkerville and sexually assaulting a woman, according to police.
After 2 a.m. on Friday morning, police responded to the incident in the 400 block of Chilver Road.
A man allegedly entered a home through an unlocked door and inappropriately touched a female asleep in bed.
Officers say the man was still in the room when they arrived, and the victim hasn't sustained any physical injuries.
After investigating, it was found the victim and suspect didn't know each other.
The suspect, from Ottawa, was charged by police with sexual assault and being unlawfully in a dwelling-house.
Police are urging residents to lock their doors and windows to protect their homes and occupants.
