Over 19,000 Evacuated After Floods Hit China
Israa Farhan Torrential rainstorms have struck northern China, flooding the city of Baoding and forcing over 19,000 residents to evacuate their homes, according to the country's national meteorological authority. The intense weather battered Hebei province, where Baoding is located, dropping nearly a full year's worth of rainfall in just 24 hours. In Yi County, in western Baoding, rain levels reached 447.4 millimeters between Thursday morning and early Friday, almost matching the city's annual average of just over 500 millimeters. The Chinese Meteorological Administration reported that 19,453 people from 6,171 households had to be relocated due to the flooding. Several weather stations in Hebei updated their records to reflect the severity of the storm. Authorities have not disclosed where evacuees were moved, but a video shared on social media showed two police officers in rain gear standing in a flooded street as rain continued to pour overnight. The storms are part of a growing trend of extreme weather across China, which has increasingly impacted urban and rural areas alike. Emergency services remain on alert as forecasts predict more rain in the days ahead. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
