Popular Chipotle Burrito Vault giving away $1 million in free food. Tips for winning
In time for National Burrito Day on April 3, Chipotle has relaunched its popular game offering the chance at free food.
"Last year, our Burrito Vault drove unprecedented fan engagement that resulted in our highest digital transaction day of all time," said Chris Brandt, chief brand officer. "Now, we are giving them another chance to crack the code and score more free burritos."
Here's how to play and win.
Chipotle is giving away more than $1 million in free burritos through the Burrito Vault game, the company states in a press release.
Every hour through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, the restaurant chain is offering 2,500 buy-one-get-one free entrée codes to Chipotle Rewards members who unlock the vault at Chipotle is giving away up to 157,500 BOGO codes.
To unlock the vault, players must guess the exact burrito order combination, ingredient by ingredient. And that combination changes every hour.
In addition to the BOGO codes, Chipotle has two new prizes waiting in the Burrito Vault this year.
First, players who unlock the vault after all the BOGO codes have been redeemed will receive 25 points in their Chipotle Rewards account one time during the campaign, while available.
Second, the first player to unlock the vault each hour will win free burritos for a year (awarded as 52 rewards credits for regular entrées).
You only get four chances to guess the correct combination to the vault. Fortunately, there are systems to help you narrow it down.
Food influencer snackolator shared his "patented strategy" on Instagram. Here's what he suggests:
Entrée: "It doesn't matter what you choose because you get 4 tries, so don't worry about this one."
Rice: "Choose both because they'll let you know what's wrong."
Beans: "(Same as rice)."
Protein: "Choose any two to help narrow it down."
Salsa: "Choose all four on first try."
Toppings: "Same as Salsa."
Extras: "Choose both."
Once players submit their guess, the website will them what needs to be fixed for choices 2-4, snackolater writes, putting an "X" over what's wrong. And if they're all wrong, choose none.
"If you use my patented strategy you should be able to get this solved in 4 times or less almost every time," snackolater writes.
Chipotle has 258 restaurants around Ohio, according to its website. Those include six in Akron, four in Canton, 23 in Cincinnati and 21 in Columbus.
