FRU Truck Crash: Victim Shared Clip As Team Departed For Duty
KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- One of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members who lost his life in a crash on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, this morning, had posted a short video while en route to his assignment at the Chitra Pournami Festival, Menara Condong, Teluk Intan, Perak. The video clip, lasting less than 20 seconds, with the caption 'gerak ke Teluk Intan' (leaving for Teluk Intan), was uploaded by the late Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, on his social media platform. It featured him and his colleagues from Unit 5 Ipoh, all in uniform, aboard the FRU truck, smiling and chatting cheerfully with each other. The clip was then shared by other social media users, before it went viral.

Sand lorry driver arrested after crash that killed 9 FRU personnel
TELUK INTAN: Police have arrested the driver of a sand-laden lorry involved in a fatal head-on collision that claimed the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel early this morning. Hilir Perak police chief Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said that the man, in his 40s, was arrested earlier today. "We can confirm that eight FRU personnel died at the scene, while a ninth succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment in the hospital's red zone. Two others remain in critical condition, and a further seven are being treated for moderate injuries," he told reporters at the Forensic Unit of Teluk Intan Hospital. He added that a urine test conducted on the lorry driver returned negative. The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. According to Bakri, the tragic collision occurred at Km15 of Jalan Sungai Manik–Sungai Lampam, involving a convoy of FRU Unit 5 personnel returning from a security assignment, and a lorry carrying sand. "They were en route back to their base in Sungai Senam, Ipoh, after completing duties in conjunction with the Chitra Pournami Festival in Teluk Intan. "Post-mortem examinations are being carried out at Teluk Intan Hospital, and arrangements are being made to return the remains to Unit 5 in Sungai Senam for final respects. "The deceased include both Muslim and non-Muslim personnel, and appropriate funeral rites are being arranged accordingly," he said.
